Greetings fellow Jedi..my name is paul kirkham and i am from sheffield,england.I feel as there is one force that joins the universe together like in the Star wars films.There are many things which have turned sour in my life but things happen to me and genrally turn out for the best.I am not really good with words so find it difficult to put words to paper(page)..i have been searching for more information about the Jedi religion when something made me click on this site in which i found great help.any question or anything you feel i have missed out please feel free to metion.....

Greeting my fellow Jedi,

I would agree. As a newer, and untested, faith or belief system, we are going to be scruntinized for claiming some abilities. I would definitely say that we should be practicing our strengths, but not in public...at least not for the time being. If anything, the exercises (whether we succeed or not) will help us build our focus and concentration so we might be able to live life better and serve the communities with better clarity. Personally, I do not hide who I am...but I do not advertise it either.

It has long been known that wearing certain types of stones, crystals, or sacred objects can enhance our chi, or personal energy.

On sacred objects, the energy of say the robe of Christ, or sword of a master can carry such energies, that's why some families have a tradition of passing rings or such from generation to generation.

General Discussions:: Advice for an article?
Our 1st meeting went very well. There were seven in attendance, ranging in age from 5 to 36. We began with a brief meditation, a quick overview of the tenets of Jediism, and worked a little on basic saber style and strike combos. Ended with a lesson on forming Energy Spheres.
We may change the meeting place to our home..., rather than the park. One of the kids has health issues, and we'd need to be where we could give him help in a hurry. But we're fine with that!:)

I was once ordained as a minister by the spiritualist temple/church I used to go too. I helped by conducting services, doing readings and stuff like that. I never received any documents and never really thought about it. The only legal stuff I ever ran into is having to use our tax exemption letter to buy stuff for the temple.

As to the legal requirements the site listed below answers a lot of those questions. The short of it is that if you plan to marry or bury anyone check your local city and state laws to see if additional licenses or certifications are required.

I'm still working on this, there is one chapter I have created called the Endless Fight, and has two parts, the first is the fight with the mind/body, and the second is the external one we face outside, doing good, being Jedi etc.

Could anyone help me with this and give me a few ideas/stories?

Another chapter is entitled, A new hope for the return of the Jedi. It discusses putting our knowledge, virtues and skills into the real world, this is also covered in the following topic link http://templeofthejediforce.org/modul ... t_id=41753#forumpost41753

In other words it tastes better when you make it your self!! try and keep it fresh, and homegrown if you can all those chemicals sprayed onto the food we eat isn't good for us. These slowly poison us and then we have diseases that could've been avoided by a better diet...

That which follows is an outline or guide for the induction and training of all Jedi within the Temple of the Jedi Force. This proposal simply names the minimum topics and assignments that all Jedi must meet in Force to progress within the ranks of the Temple. The driving purpose behind this document, like the very creation of the Knight's Marshall's office, is to provide uniformity and commonality for the Temple of the Jedi Force's membership.

This syllabus is merely a guide for those invested and involved in the training of the Temple's membership. Any teacher is free to add to these topics and assignments as they see fit. Added writings, quizzes, discussions, etc. are excellent contributions to the training of Initiates and Apprentices. However, any modification would be left to the sole discretion of the instructing Jedi, just as any teacher in a public school can teach whatever it is that they feel is appropriate so long as they meet state-mandated requirements. Provided, of course, that these minimum requirements are met and completed.

Jedi Initiate:

A Jedi Initiate, as a newcomer to the Temple, is charged with the responsibility of familiarizing them self with the basic precepts and foundations upon which the Temple of the Jedi Force is based. To this end a Jedi Initiate must keep a journal which is not limited to but must, at minimum, include discussion of the following:

Your first post in the your Training Journal should be of an introductory nature. Please tell us a little about yourself and then why you wish to be a Jedi, what brought you to the Temple and what you wish to get out of your training here. ARROGANCE: In my younger years perhaps but in my young adult years that got burned out of my system real quick...

GREED: I've never really had much and the little bit that we did have we took good care of. I don't understand greed it isn't a part of my character...

IMMATURITY: I have been through some things in my years and all these things have shaped and molded the man I am today I have traveled the U.S. on my own and I had a blast, met some interesting characters on the way. My mothers cancer and all that, that entails... My Daughter's birth and the struggle it has been to keep my household running I understand Maturity because an Immature person can't do responsability... I am very responsable

LACK OF COMPASSION: I can understand why people can experience this and I know that I am not guilty of this my life experiences have taught me that I am a compassionate person and this brings me warm feelings...

INABILITY TO SEETHINGS FROM OTHERS' P.O.V: This depends entirely on the type of person you're dealing with. Some people you can understand them and reason with them on their level. While others you can't reason with and you can understand this too... Not all people have this gift and they can't be blamed, they are simply not wired to understand these things... I am not guily of this...

STUBBORNESS: Yes I have been guilty of this... Sometimes I still am but those instances are becoming less and less as I continue to learn more about the way of the force...

there are plenty of products out there that you can use instead of the ones you "should" use.

Cash
It's better to pay in cash. You are limited by what you have and you aren't likely to like handing out the cash so you will think for a second before doing so. A favor trick of my is to come in with a very limited amount of cash, like just enough for the item I want or need. Or I will come in with no cash if I'm just taking a friend to the store. That way if I really want something, i'm going to have to run to the car and get the money.

Size Matters
Maybe not in tk or some other lessons, but when buying stuff, size matters a lot. Ususally getting the bigger is a better deal, but you have to factor in how fast you can use the item, how the item is going to be used, and do you really want all of it. Sometimes it's better to get a small package for a day trip or just because that's the right size. You take a hit money wise, but you couldn't use the bigger size. And sometimes it's actually cheaper to get two small items than one big one. Simple math can save you money.

Change.
I swear all women have a pound of change in their purse. I always make it a habit when I have more than a handful of coins to start using them. Cashiers have no problem waiting for you to get out some change. In face we will silently thank you because we need that change in our draw, that or call a manager for more quarters.

Alexandra,

Please note that the taking on of an Apprentice should be a very personal thing, and that although many come desiring this relationship quickly, history has taught us that one of the most prudent things you can do is to study a few masters for a while to make certain that you are compatible.

This involves reading those masters' posts, talking to them one on one via PM or other means, and making sure that when you decide to take that path, you are both ready for the commitment it requires.

Learning the basics is something that any Knight or Master should be willing to help guide you in, but once you agree to the teacher/pupil relationship, it becomes something more solid...the difference between an engagement and a marriage, so to speak.

If there is anything I can personally do to assist you, please do not hesitate to ask.

Rix... I feel you man! I have been there and know the deal I have a daughter too and getting clean is the best thing in that situation. The dark side will always have that pull on you because that is the way of the dark side of the force. Or should I say the force has no side it is just there it only reflects the side of you that your focusing on the most. The darkness within is brought out by your focus on it. Focus on the good within you and the things in your life worth having and fight for them, for yourself! be strong this path is not for the weak. The answer is quite simple really

1. Jedi from other communities may not know of TOTJF
2. Some may of had past quarrels with TOTJF administration or members and are other wise unable or unwilling to join
3. Some may of been banned
4. some may not agree with TOTJF views and mission

(to name a few)

By going to a place not specified to one particular community, like the Tea House. No one is obligated to follow the rule's or ideals of that particular site (Hense why I didn't put the name 'Jedi' anywhere on it). By going to a place like the tea house where there are no rule's, missions, or otherwise pre-set agenda's. Everyone can feel more free and open in their communication with each other.

I want to thank both of you Tempest and Master Octagon, these are good posts the elephant story puts things into perspective. by standing by and allowing the force to care of the details sometimes things just happen the way they're supposed to and sometimes better thsn you could've planned them to begin with... We all have different ways of viewing and contemplating the Force but in the end we are all part of the puzzle in the search for the answers to the great mystery... Sorry for not writing for a few weeks. There truly wasn’t much going on in my life. There were no exciting events like getting captured or finding that scum bag of a Jedi who dumped me here to die. No empire trying to catch my sorry self or even much going on in the Force. I am still convinced that in no way am I related to a Jedi and thus this Force thing is a joke. I haven’t had anything strange happen to me for a long time, nor have I tried feeling anything, so maybe it was just my imagination.

But something now has happened. It isn’t good, but that shouldn’t be a surprise should it? My freaking art work got stolen by some jerk that I have no idea who is or why he would steal from me. I was under the impression my work was not worth stealing as I barely make enough to pay rent. Merta keeps promising I’m going to go big some day, but at this rate, I’ll go no where and live forever on her charity. I suppose it’s not really charity. I did pay my first month of rent and I have been helping her out and doing painting for her. She’s a nice, but strict old lady. I kind of feel like I’m in some proper school for young ladies and I’m being taught the niceties of rich society. I now know how to address everyone, set a table, how to approach anyone, little gestures that mean so much, and such. It’s stupid really, but I suppose being rich has its own code of behavior that must be followed like the dorm like at an art school.

I’m guessing I should tell about the thief since it got to me really bad. I really hate stealing. I really hated stealing every time I had to for food. It was so wrong and I hated the fact that I had no option in it. If there was another way to obtain food for myself, I would have done it, but this is a cruel, unforgiving galaxy and I was forced into some terrible decisions due to a terrible dude that I must call Emperor.

I have slowly become aware of the fact this planet is very anti emperor. It’s nothing big or bold, but the lack of certain actions or simply words can tell a lot if one looks. In no speech Merta has insisted I go with her, have I heard anything on the Empire. Not that there is anything bad being said or suggested, but it’s still very much there. There is no mention of our “dear emperor” like said in news reports. The art guide has no opinion on the matter. People don’t speak of the emperor. An advertising of the empire finds itself competing with art show announcements, plays, or a sale at someone’s home. The emperor storm trooper unit is barely tolerated and kept under strict rules by the citizens here. No one will allow a guard to harass anyone, or demand special treatment with prices. Their guns and armor does not impress anyone. Even the children aren’t afraid of them. It of course helps that the town has it’s own militia that out numbers the empire’s station, ready to come together in an hour’s notice and very well trained. But it because there is no obvious hate for the empire is the reason why we remain unnoticed by the emperor’s watchful eye.

Forgive if I seem wondering, my mind isn’t all the way here. I feel confused and caught in the middle of something I don’t know what.

It was a normal day. I gotten up, ate breakfast, shown my work to Merta, headed to the park where I sold a painting with in the first hour. Lunch time had come and things got busy. I had learned to take my lunch before or after the middle of the day when everyone else was out. I was in the middle of a painting, very much engrossed in it, not noticing a thing around me when I suddenly became aware through this “feeling” of someone looking at a painting. I stopped my painting to get a good look at the potential customer to see to my horror, a man, short and thin, trying to stuff the painting into a bag. I did not get a better look of him. I dropped my brush, jumped off the green park bench I was on and shouted at to him to stop. He saw me and got very nervous, trying to finish stuffing the painting and grab as many as he could. I grabbed his forearm to stop him, but he pushed me away. I clumsily stumbled and he took off. I ran after him, but he was too fast and the crowd was closing in his wake. I had lost him and several of my best paintings. It happened so quickly and I was left in the middle of the street with people staring at me and whispering among themselves. When I had gone back, I took inventory of what I had left and discovered all my drawing were gone too. In fact, there was little art work left. Heart broken and bewildered, I packed up and went back to Merta’s.

My emotions were working themselves up as I walked back. I could not believe this had happened. Who would want to steal from an artist and why? I wasn’t the best or getting the most customers. I wasn’t a threat to any of the many other artists on the streets. There was no secret or anything valuable hidden in them. I just could not understand what would make anyone want to steal from me.

I slammed the front door and stormed up to my room. I jumped up on my bed and proceeded to sob. All my hard work was gone. All money I could have made gone. I needed that art work to pay rent and for more art supplies as I refused to rely on Merta. I did not hear the door open, or the footsteps of an old lady come in to see what the commotion was about.

“My dear child! What happened! Tell me!” She exclaimed and came to the bed, sat down beside me and waited for me to control my crying so I could answer her.

I told her what had happened. I told her the thief, but could not describe him. I told her what direction he went, but could not track him. I told her of the painting and art work he took, but doubt I would see them again.

“Oh I think you will. I will see to it those art works are tracked down and he is arrested. No one messed with the friends of Merta.” An old youthful and powerful light came into her eyes. The pains of old age left her momentarily as she sat up straighter, her head held high and fire glowed in the reflection of her blue eyes. I sniffed and went to blow my nose.

“What is that?” She pointed to my arm where the man had roughly pushed me away. There was a light, yellowish bruise forming. It did not hurt, but it also did not look pretty. I hid my arm behind my back. I did not want to remind of how badly this had gone.

“My dear, you’re hurt. This won’t do. Surely you could have done something more to stop him?”

I shook my head. I had no idea how to react in such a situation, as I told her. I had no idea how to physical stop him. All I knew was how to run from storm troopers. That, I left out.

She went quiet, as if in decision. It seemed a decision she did not want to make, but had thought about it before and was realizing something I could not tell what. Then, in her body moments and the slight turn of the head, she decided something.

“Dear, kindly get me a piece of paper from down stairs and a graphstick.”

I did as ordered and brought the items to her. She sat down at my drawing desk, now splattered in a rainbow of paints and markings from pencils and spilled water. She scribbled for some minutes, filling up the page. I gave her distance and privacy. When done, she folded the paper in such a way that it would be obvious if anyone had opened it. She then wrote an address.

“I want you to take this letter to a friend of mine. Have him read it and do as he asks. Thank you dear.” She handed me the letter and send me off on my way.

She sent me on the other side of town, on a narrow, slanted alleyway, full of little, family run shops. Although it wasn’t the worst neighborhood of the town, it wasn’t gleaming and rich. Between a baked goods store and a laundry place was a small space with tinted glass and a store address number. Aside from that, there was no store name, no advertisements for some new drink, or even store hours. The sidewalk in front of the store was well swept, probably better than the other stores. I looked at the address given and looked up at the store. This had to be the right one. There was nothing else.

I swallowed, feeling my courage drain me. There was something eerie about the building. It was dark and mysterious from the outside, leaving one to wonder what was being hidden. It almost looked closed, but something whispered inside of me that it wasn’t. I suppose to the average person it looked closed. I walked up and tried the door. It was unlocked and opened at my touch. I took a step in, finding myself in a single, large room. There was little lighting, mainly coming from the tinted glass and some artificial light coming from a room in the back. I guessed that was the office. The floors were wooden and worn, not a bit of gloss left. There was a long mirror on one side, stretching from wall to wall, floor to ceiling. That helped reflect the darken light.

My glazing around the room went on for a while. I was taking in all there was, even though there wasn’t much to see. There was no real hint what this place was about. My searching led me to the room in the back, but I did not move. I was scared to make a sound. I just wanted to stand there forever, waiting for whoever it was to come to me or to run away. The feeling of the place was hauntingly silent. It felt like someone was holding their breath, not in a struggling kind of way, but just to hold, waiting for the right time to breathe out. Then, suddenly, I felt the exhale. A man came out of the room in the back.

“Yes?” His dark eyes narrowed in on me as though I had interrupted something. His demeanor was annoyed and powerful, ready to chase me out if he must. I can assure everyone, force was not necessary.

I held up the letter in my hand, explaining my reason for being here and who sent me. He came forth and took the letter from me. He looked at the manner in which it was folded and then proceeded to open it. Once more or less flattened, he read it. I found myself holding my breath, as though my fate was in his hands and something huge was about to happen.

“Have you read this?” His tone was less angry, but just was barking as before.

I told him no.

“Do you know what this is about?”

Again I told him no. He paused and thought, or at least I presumed he was thinking. He face went blank and his eyes went glossy. That look was almost familiar, as if I should have recognized it from somewhere not too long ago, but I could not recall it no matter how hard I tried.

“I am a self defense teacher. This letter tells me the lady who sent you here has asked me to train you due to the recent attack on you. She says she will pay for your lessons and that I am to thoroughly educate you.”

I stared in shock. It seemed too often that I had been in a state of shock. Why would she offer this? I did not need lessons in defending myself. I just needed to keep a better eye on my work.

“I see by your reaction you do not want this training.”

I stuttered between saying yes and no. I tried to explain to the strange man before me this was most unexpected and strange.

“So is much of life….” He trailed off.

“If you accept her offer, come by tomorrow afternoon at this time and we will begin.” He said, turning around, and went back to his office.

With nothing to say or do, I walked out of the store and back to the house. It was so strange, so weird, so confusing to be left with the choice to accept the offer or not. I came back to the house quiet and began to prepare dinner like normal. Though nothing was normal.

At dinner, we ate in silence. At the end she made polite comments about the meal, saying my cooking had improved. When I did not beam in pride, she looked at me.

“Dear, what’s wrong? Did something go wrong earlier?”

Her teachings were never to get to your point directly, but this time I could not be bothered to follow such stupid rules. I blurted out a question that burned in my mind: why was I sent there?

“To learn to defend yourself of course. I cannot stand the thought of you being hurt like that again. It would be silly not to learn valuable skills.”

I made the argument this would take time away from my painting and selling.

“You won’t make anything if your paintings are stolen or you’re lying in bed, nursing wounds and broken bones.”

I gave up. She was not going to have it. I was have to accept the offer.

“If you’re worried about rent, don’t. I can live a month or two without your rent. You take care of yourself.”

When done with all chores of the evening, I excused myself to my room, yet I didn’t draw. I stared at the page, feeling lost. My fate was not in my hands. Something strange was going on. I could feel it, just the same way I could feel people. The man was strange. He was powerful, controlling, tough, but there was more to him than that I realized as I reflected on him. This was just a front. How I knew this, I didn’t know. It wasn’t natural to know stuff like that about a person. It seemed I was not natural. Is that was the emperor wants me so bad? Because those who are not natural should not exist?

well i can say one thing for certain although the questions seem to stem more questions i have learned quite a bit about ethics thanks to everyone who has posted here and in that spirit Kastian your last post inspired yet another question for me lol.... should ethics be momentary meaning only applicable to the current situation or should ethical behavior take into account long term effects ... i know that is impossible to know all the possible outcomes of every situation but where do all the jedi stand on this question?

Master... I recently bought one of those Push-up pro things, that are supposed to decrease the joint damage. I thought it was a great work out, You should look into them they made me sore from 25 it felt like I did 75. There is definitely different muscles activated by the rotation in the wrists and arms I think it's a good fitness investment for us all =)

Now if only I would get up off my tush and do the rest of my work out I'd be in shape... LOL... *bows* FS

You're welcome. I wrote it for beginners and used my nearing 6 years of teaching beginners to make sure you get all that I could think of that you would want. Of course there are always questions to ask, as this guide and the others can not possibly cover all of them. So I encourage you and others to ask any question you would like (though please be serious and intelligent in what you're asking).

To answer your question Master Rachat, Each side has their reasons but in the end unity wins the duel. We have to find a way to come together because in the end only understanding and unity will succeed in unifying the world... As it is now the world is a conflicted loony bin if it continues this way we will end up killing our selves and the planet... how to make the world understand this???

Jim man, if you start going after your Canadian citizenship, hook a girl up with that information. I used to tell Momma that when she passed away, I was moving to Canada. No, I really wasn't kidding and homeboy can stay here with his homegirl...this monkey is leaving with you, Lynn and Richard!

As far as the transition, yep, scary as hell man. I felt that way when I got out too. I think it took me almost three months to realize there was no Reveille and no Battle Stations or Man Overboards. I swear, everytime someone dropped something in the kitchen, I mistook it for some kind of bell and came running. Wow, you can't tell me the military doesn't know how to psychologically condition somebody.

I have noticed a few things did stay with me. Attention to detail and the need for being meticulous are familiar friends. It took me FOREVER to stop saying bulkhead, deck, head, overhead and pway. One thing I still do to this day however is use military time and the date format for my calendar. To me, this was the most effecient thing about the military.

There are days I really miss it, but then I remember eating roasted boot leather and working 12 hour days 7 days a week in the arabian gulf and thank my lucky stars I am no longer sweating it out.

We should all pat ourselves on the back for a job well done and be thankful that we were healthy enough to sign on the dotted line to serve. I dont believe for a second that any of us do, but never look back and regret. We are an elite group of individuals who made a sacrifice for our nation out of love. If you joined because you had nothing better to do, well, thats ok too.

I find myself reading mostly starwars LOL... practicing my martial arts riding my bike spending time with my daughter and wife and trying to enjoy those small wonderful moments that life has to offer... However I do love science and I should probably get my self one of those kits too =) *bows*

Well in my experience I knew I was in love when the person with whom my affection was directed was always on my mind. Everything I did was for the benefit of that person. When this person was happy I was happy and when he was upset I felt the same. Romantic love is more then kissing and hugging it is a deep longing for that persons company, a pain that can only be cured with their presence. To me love is a connection. When your life and the other persons’ become tangled and become one life.

in what ways can one avoid the patterns of looking back too much or forward too much.. it seems to me when someone is doing one or the other in excess they often times dont realize they are doin it... and the jedi are no exception.. for outsiders it is all to often easy to see if a person is dwelling .....but what about the self ??

Metaphysics aside I look at it like this; I know for certain that I came from nothing, and will return to the same nothing.If I close my eyes I don't see anything, this is the place I came from. So if I came from nothing, and will return to nothing, then all I"m afraid of is really nothing at all. From the moment we're born we start dying, it's a law of nature. We're created to have a finite existence. It's this mortality that gives our lives punctuation and purpose. We don't know when we'll go, but we also don't know when we'll be born. We're not afraid of being born so why be afraid of the natural cycle of it. We're born, we live a brief moment, and we return to whence we came. Death is only the end of a natural cycle of life so why be afraid? Why morn for those who've passed? All they've done is complete a cycle that started the day they were born.

This has been done in Wiki format to allow for better organization of information making it easier to find and making us more productive by allowing us the means to access key information faster. This project will only be successful by our collective efforts. NOTE: With all these, please go line by line and tell us what they mean to you and how you plan to incorporate what you have learned into your life...or how you already have.

* After completion of the journal, and with the approval of the Knight’s Marshall’s office, the Jedi Youngling becomes eligible for apprenticeship and the Youngling may then be chosen by either a Knight or a Master to become an Apprentice. The selection process works in only one way... the Knight or Master approaches their Apprentice, not the other way around. A Knight or Master may have multiple Apprentices so long as the number of Apprentices to Knight or Master does not exceed a ratio of to three (3) one (1). Furthermore, a Jedi Youngling may reject a Knight or Master that approaches them as a teacher. The Jedi Youngling will remain eligible to become an Apprentice indefinitely until they are approached by a Knight or Master who they wish to work with.

Greetings My Fellow Jedi...

From time to time, each organization becomes faced with situations that are unexpected. This is true of all organizations. For our site, and the greater Jedi Community that time has now come.

There is an open discussion about either a possible merger or loose confederation with the Temple of the Jedi Order.

I must be clear: No decisions have been made. This is simply a preliminary phase; there has been no decisions as of yet as to how, when, or if this will happen. However it is being talked about, and you do have the right to know that.For this purpose, I am asking everyone to participate in a community wide roll call. Each branch of this site will be given their own thread in the study halls or discussion halls that will focus on this exact subject. It is vital to get an understanding of how many active and non-active members we have at this site. It is also a chance to document the lineage of the students, and document the official roles that anyone may have, or committees that anyone has served on.

Not only will this give us information vital to a proper assessment if a merger is in the best interests of our home here, but if there is no merger, it will begin our Jedi Archives Project and begin its movement in a new and exciting way.I will be monitoring the forums twice daily for the next month (30 days) to allow enough time to gather the required data, as well as allow the more occasional members to have their chance to throw their hands up and have their voice heard. Your participation in this project is encouraged and appreciated.

1.What are your views on Jediism?

My views on Jediism servers a purpose for individuals that found meaning in the metaphors found in Star Wars and wanted to explore themas they pertain in their everyday lives. Since the source material c borrowed heavily from the religious and philosophical constructs of the real world, those same influences on the film seem focal more times than not to the personal explorer into Jediism.

2.Why did you join the Jedi religion?

I was a fan of the media. One day I was surfing the web and I found a Jedi Realism/ Jediism site. Being in that “Who am I phase” and wanting to explore a religion that might suit my interests more than a classical or established religion, I figured this venue was the least droll to actual start investigating how I felt about religion, faith, and my own beliefs.

3.What have you learned about yourself since joining the religion?

I learned about myself that a lot of the qualities and metaphors, the elaborate stories we tell to get points across, the potential to be these qualities comes from within myself. Our choices in everyday life, understanding that there is a choice, and then having the courage to make it is a self heroic way to be your own Luke Skywalker or whatever character you resonate with. I learned looking for religion and philosophy, for me personally, will not fill what you feel is missing when you are not satisfied with life, but it might help develop some insights into why and how to change it.

4.How has the religion changed your life?

It certainly inspired me to expand my vocabulary and read up, rather dig up, some source material from the real life that inspired the movie and read works that was inspired by the movie. I have a broader access of knowledge on religious and philosophical topics. I did not need Jediism to do this, but it certainly inspired me to do so on my own accord. It changed how I look at my value system, it made me ask “Do I really value this and how much?” The answer to that, and the explorations it lead to past examining me in relation to the Jedi Paths values was life changing.

5.What holidays do you follow since joining this religion? Are you aware of the Jedi holidays?

There are plenty of self proclaimed Holidays made and followed by Cults of Personalty in our on-line segments of Jediism community. I am not particularly concerned about them. May 4 has a nice novelty I wish I could say I celebrate but I forgot. Everyday is a Holiday. I still celebrate the Holidays my Family will, because I appreciate the purposeful and meaningful intents of them wanting to celebrate with friends and family.

6.What challenges do you find while practicing this religion?

One challenge is pragmatical. There is a rich amount of Mythos to find inspiration in, and some of it is practical and some of it I feel is not. Who gets to say what is and what is not exactly practical is really I think up to the individual. The issue with that is that means every Jedi is different, the meanings are different, there is no uniformity and at the worst a lack of standards. So there are Blow Hards on one side saying “Hey, you are wrong and not a Jedi” and then on the other side there are individuals that wear the name because it simply resonates with them and they want to be associated with something they feel is heroic, but that is about as much dedication and practice you will see in them. It takes a certain level of self-responsibility and self-awareness to find something that resonates within to do this, and to realize if there is something better suited for the individuals wants.

7.What clothing are you required to wear for special functions of this religion?

I am not required to wear any particular clothing during a special function.
* Smile * I own a very large hooded sweat shirt. I only get to commune with people on-line. For something ritualistic and meaningful, I would not object against wearing a robe.

8.What are some of the primary teachings of this religion?

Depending on where you go and who you speak with there will be a variety of Doctrines, and some that flat out contradict each other. Personally, this is what I think the Primary Teachings are:

Objectivity, through detachment, is what a Jedi needs for clarity to make choices appropriate to the title they bear.
Service for others in need in a responsible manner can influence our environment in a positive way.
The quest to overcome ignorance and pursue knowledge is essential to influence our surroundings when we need to.
Tolerance and Diplomacy are tools that are available to the Jedi before absolute judgment and elevated conflict.

9.How old is this particular religion? 10. How did this religion begin?

Again, many sources and personalities will have many versions for this answer. I do not think the concepts of Jedi as a Faith occurred too distant from the origins of the Jedi on-line community that Jediism is a part of. The story I tend to reference is that around 1998 groups of RPG forum players where excited about the new prequels coming out. The internet became popular and the idea that these concepts could be a actual real life Path to live and Follow became obvious to the people at that time. From that realization sites came up and went down and the community evolved, people going to their respected portion of the internet to solidify what they saw as The Jedi Path.

I've been in conversations with people that now Mr. Lucas and say being a Jedi started back in the 70's.
I am incline to believe that is possible. For the sake and purpose though, I will say that Jediism most likely was conceived around 1998.

M8 you have to show you are willing to find the info as well as learn it here. Also pop onto the chat when any of the knights or masters are on it and they can also help. You will be surprised what you can do with the force in real life, you just need to open yourself up to the ways of the force.

For the past hundred years, citizens of the United States shared one common holiday, regardless of faith, race, or sex. Though it has never appeared on any calendar, we marked a day upon which we managed to slip free of our shackles and buy our way out of indentured servitude. In 1900, it fell on Jan. 22. By 2009, the last year President George W. Bush scheduled the event, it had been pushed back to the first week of May. This year, most expected it to be held during the first week of August. It was, of course, Tax Freedom Day—the day when American workers stopped toiling to pay their government, and began working for themselves. Sadly, barring Constitutional challenges, we’ll never see another one.

True freedom, thanks to Obama’s health care reform, no longer exists in the United States.

What we have now is a system where, each month for the rest of his or her life, each American will purchase their freedom by writing a check to a federally approved insurance company. The size of that check remains to be seen, but there’s not a single estimate that shows it declining.

If they fail to pay the mandated bill, they’ll face investigation at the hands of the IRS. If the government decides they’re unable to cover the cost, someone else will be forced to pick up their slack. The more the population grows, the more there will be people who will be unable to pay. The cost to those who are footing the bill will increase in perpetuity. If Obama’s plan stands, our formerly inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness will never be less expensive than they are right now.

If a citizen refuses to pay, they’ll face the consequences. So far, we’ve been told those penalties will be financial in nature. However, mere months ago, both Obama and Pelosi suggested they’d be fine with seeing jail time imposed. Is America really willing to trust that the concept of such punishment has been abandoned? That the United States has become a country where failure to buy a commercial product could even conceivably result in the loss of freedom simply boggles the mind.

Yet, here we are.

Perhaps if the bill solved some fundamental problem, there could be a justification. Yet it fails, spectacularly, to achieve every goal which it attempts to address.

According to the AP, the plan will make coverage more expensive, not less.

According to the Heritage Foundation, it will increase taxes, the deficit, and unemployment.

According to the CBO, once you factor in the Docfix legislation that Pelosi has promised to pass later this year, the new medical system instantly adds to the deficit.

According to a recent survey of doctors, it will cause a whopping 46% of medical practitioners to consider leaving the profession, worsening the nation’s physician shortage and lowering the quality of overall care.

All of the particulars, however, pale in comparison to the damage it will do our freedom.

In an instant, Obama’s legislation has paved the way for government involvement in every conceivable corner of our lives. From what we eat to where we live, from where we travel to how we get there, every single thing we do has some impact on our health. Our environment, our homes, our clothes – all of it – will now be subject to federal scrutiny. Should they decide that your diet, your lifestyle, or firearm ownership leads to increased health care costs, what’s to keep them from taxing you into submission or banning the offending practice?

To attain this level of control, the Democrats have passed a bill of unprecedented unpopularity. In so blatantly thumbing their noses at the overwhelming majority of their constituents, they have ignored the notion that a government derives its power from the consent of the governed. Every member of Congress who voted for this monstrosity has now turned their back on the most basic concepts of individual liberty.

In the wake of health care’s passage, many have been quoting Benjamin Franklin, who wrote “Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” Sadly, the sentiment only applies to the roughly twenty-three percent who desired this so-called “reform.”

The rest of us have seen our liberty stolen and replaced with the empty promise of security for which we never asked.

Where taxes may have once indentured us, at least our annual tax freedom was the light at the end of the tunnel. Now, from cradle to grave, our debt is unending.

Sunday night, Barack Obama and his congressional allies turned that nation of indentured servants into a nation of slaves.

As you will see, we are not a role-playing site, but a living, breathing collective of spiritual people in search of enlightenment through the study of Jediism. Spirituality, philosophy, martial arts, the occult and much more adds to the wealth of knowledge that is here and possessed by the membership here. Feel free to look around, read many posts, post comments and questions to those that interest you and also feel free to post questions of your own. There you will find many answers to questions you may not known that you had and also find more questions to ask later that you might never have thought of. Here is the Official Training Syllabus for the Temple of the Jedi Force:

That which follows is an outline or guide for the induction and training of all Jedi within the Temple of the Jedi Force. This proposal simply names the minimum topics and assignments that all Jedi must meet in Force to progress within the ranks of the Temple. The driving purpose behind this document, like the very creation of the Knight's Marshall's office, is to provide uniformity and commonality for the Temple of the Jedi Force's membership.

This syllabus is merely a guide for those invested and involved in the training of the Temple's membership. Any teacher is free to add to these topics and assignments as they see fit. Added writings, quizzes, discussions, etc. are excellent contributions to the training of Initiates and Apprentices. However, any modification would be left to the sole discretion of the instructing Jedi, just as any teacher in a public school can teach whatever it is that they feel is appropriate so long as they meet state-mandated requirements. Provided, of course, that these minimum requirements are met and completed.

Initiate (Registered User):

A Jedi Initiate, as a newcomer to the Temple, is charged with the responsibility of familiarizing them self with the basic precepts and foundations upon which the Temple of the Jedi Force is based. To this end a Jedi Initiate must keep a journal which is not limited to but must, at minimum, include discussion of the following:

Your first post in the your Training Journal should be of an introductory nature. Please tell us a little about yourself and then why you wish to be a Jedi, what brought you to the Temple and what you wish to get out of your training here. After this initial post, please discuss the following concepts:

The Jedi Code

16 Teachings of the Jedi

3 Tenets:
Focus
Wisdom
Knowledge

The Vows of the Jedi

The Jedi Creed

NOTE: With all these, please go line by line and tell us what they mean to you and how you plan to incorporate what you have learned into your life...or how you already have.

* After completion of the journal, and with the approval of the Knight’s Marshall’s office, the Jedi Youngling becomes eligible for apprenticeship and the Youngling may then be chosen by either a Knight or a Master to become an Apprentice. The selection process works in only one way... the Knight or Master approaches their Apprentice, not the other way around. A Knight or Master may have multiple Apprentices so long as the number of Apprentices to Knight or Master does not exceed a ratio of to three (3) one (1). Furthermore, a Jedi Youngling may reject a Knight or Master that approaches them as a teacher. The Jedi Youngling will remain eligible to become an Apprentice indefinitely until they are approached by a Knight or Master who they wish to work with.

Jedi - Mind Body Spirit - Tutorials:: Meditation methods and styles- Tutorial.
Now I have lived by the beach most of my life, whilst I was young I would lay at night listening to the waves crash on the shore, and it would send me off to sleep very quickly. Now in my adult years I use the same sounds through my ipod or audio unit, I have also found that if the room is darkened and warm this enhances my meditation. I have always found complete relaxation whilst listening to nature and her sounds.
