bump, if anyone has anything to discuss about Promotions.

As to the Jedi trials. It was stated in the promotions nominations thread, 1st post. Quote:

As the name implies, this select group will be in charge of administering the Trials of Knighthood and possibly interviewing both the Apprentice and his/her mentor in order to ascertain if the Apprentice is ready for promotion into Knighthood.

This is from by-laws.
Quote:

The Jedi Trials (Two-page essay on how the Apprentice has faced these trials) The Trial of Skill The Trial of the Flesh The Trial of Courage The Trial of the Spirit * This essay is to be assigned by the Knight or Master to their Apprentice at the time that the teacher feels is appropriate. The completed essay must be read and approved by the training Knight or Master. Furthermore, after approval by the Apprenticeâs master the essay must then be submitted for review by the entirety of the Jedi Council (which means that each council member must read the essay before voting on whether or not the Apprentice in question is worthy of promotion to the rank of Jedi Knight). Following the reading of the Apprenticeâs essay a council member can vote for or against the Apprenticeâs promotion to the rank of Jedi Knight. In order for an Apprentice to be promoted to the rank of Jedi Knight they must have the majority vote of the Jedi council in favor of their promotion and must be at least eighteen (18) years of age although seventeen (17) years of age is possible in the most exemplary and extraordinary of Apprentices. An Apprentice must retain this rank for a minimum of nine months before becoming eligible for advancement to the rank of Jedi Knight.

So the PC in taking the place of the Council will not administer but will review and vote on the apprentices trials. I think it should also be mentioned, the PC and KM has the power to amend and update the by-laws concerning their actions and responsibilities.

Hello everyone.

I would like to introduce myself.

My name is Martin Lynn, and i am 16 years old.
I come from a small village by the foot of a great mountain on the south-western side of Norway, often called "Western Norway"
My jedi name Lyndiohn Shaákthri comes simply of that my
grandfather`s name was Lyndon. He was from England.
Shaákthri is a name that came into my name half a year ago. I simply liked it.

I come from a Christian family and is raised in the beliefs of the christian.
I am also a man with strong bonds to the nature.
When i feel for it, i grab my boots and tent and march into the forest/mountains
that surround my home. There i will stay for days, thinking about life and most of all, being free ! It is a personal need of mine, and i have done it since i was able to walk.

But it was also in the wilderness i discovered and sensed that there was something more than the things i learned in church.
What i discovered on the blazing mountain top was a true peace of mind..
a feeling of being extremely calm and relaxed. I have chased that one of a kind feeling for months now, without luck.

I have allways been a fan. But when i watched and thinked of , i saw beyond Lucas`s universe and realized that there was more to discover then what was told.
I found out recently that the feeling i had that time on the mountain may absolutely have something to do with the force.. Therefore i searched google.com after a suiteable place to be told and to learn about the force..
and how things seem now, this looks like a place i would dedicate my life to.

I really need some help to understand how the teaching goes on at the temple, and how i can study and work my way to become a jedi youngling.

This was my experience with the force so far, and i wish strongly to learn more about it.. i know there is more than i have seen.

Haltyr your thoughts are good, but one thing I would recomend is building to identical cerimonial hilts one to be buried with you and one for your family to always look upon when they miss you, this will allow them to still feel your force presence easier.

Next Kyp has a funeral pyre every october 29th which he has a cerimony set up, as for anything esle by all means write up what your heart tells you for weddings funerals, blessings, ect..

I myself feel it better to use the persons own religion's cerimonies unless they request otherwise.

Thanks for sharing the video. Someone asked about 2012 being the end of the world in another thread to which I replied probably not. I included a link from a web page that listed hundreds of past predictions made about the end of the world.

This Is one of the best lines I have read within this Temple so far, as I matches my own belief.

There is no Emotion; There is Peace.
What is emotion if it is not your Ego's way of taking control of you. Illusions can seem very real if they are happening all around you. The Ego and its illusionary emotions should be used as a TOOL of the Jedi's inner self. Yet many regard it as who they are, thus giving their ego full control of themselves and becoming lost within its illusions.

Hello everyone! Yep, this is me. I might be new here, but I have been living the Jedi philosophy, focusing primarily on the Taoist and Buddhist aspects, for almost eleven years now.

I was trained in Poinciana, Florida, in the year 1998, by a man named Master Louis Troche. I finished my training by 1999, and became a Jedi Knight. Soon after, I took on my first Padawan, Eric Middlebrooke, and trained him for the following six months or so. He became a Jedi Knight around the same time the order disbanned, around the year 2000 (Oh, no! Y2K did something after all!)

I trained two more Knights in the years that follow, but have been flying solo as a Jedi Knight for nearly six years now.

Its cool to find a place like this, and I'm glad to be here!

Could be any more vague please, this has to much information to go off of! lol sorry I am just kidding.

First off Sith aren't evil as Cheppo has stated, secondly everyone has a little darkside in them, this is fact so now here is the real question.

What makes you think she is evil, and how is she trying to get you to join her?

Next, if she is "evil" why not just tell her you like her friendship but her intentions towards you are clouded and you think perhaps going seperate ways is for the best?!

And lastly, hanging around evil people is good for both sides it is balance and that balance helps both sides learn and grow and eventually evolve to their true path in life, perhaps you are merely mistaking her intentions, ask her what she thinks and feels and want about you and from you, this is how Jedi learn by seeking the hidden things in life.

Greetings Tai-Da,

It is admirable that you have returned to begin your studies again. Do take care that your pride does not get the best of you, Jedi must let go of their egos in order to progress in their lives. It is a tough lesson, but one that can be learned through patience and experience. Learning the path of the Jedi is long, and the lessons fruitful, bear with it and keep moving forward. At this Temple, newcomers do not automatically receive direct mentorship from a Knight or Master. That is a relationship that comes in time. However, you will not be doing your first lessons alone.

First, begin with starting a Training Journal here. You will find the area (Jedi Initiate Training Journals) under the Message Boards button. Your first post should be on an introductory nature that includes a short history of yourself, and the answers to the following questions: Why do you want to be a Jedi? What do you want to learn here? and What do you hope to gain from training in the way of Jedi?

After that, please follow the training syllabus below. From time to time, a Knight or Master will pop in and comment on your journal to ask questions of you. Good luck.

Jedi Training Syllabus

That which follows is an outline or guide for the induction and training of all Jedi within the Temple of the Jedi Force. This proposal simply names the minimum topics and assignments that all Jedi must meet in Force to progress within the ranks of the Temple. second: I would like to say stay away from SOY anything. Contrary to the popular press soy is NOT good for you. Oriental peoples have known it was a poison since 1200's. Until they learned to ferment it to destroy the toxic proteins, they did not eat it. Also farmers have known since the 40's that Soy fed to animals speeds up their maturation rate and time to market thus improving profits. This is NOT good, because this is due to damaged metabolism. I Urge you to read this site. I refer patients to this all the time.

Third: my favorite alt nutrition site is Dr Weston Price foundation. Dr Price was a Dentist who traveled the world to study various diets and their affects on health and tooth decay. He found that the modern diseases of Diabetes, tooth decay, obesity, and a whole list of other illnesses were directly related to the "western diet". That native peoples eating natural diets did not have the diseases of the modern world until introduced to "modern foods". This site is an amazing wealth of information. I also refer patients to this site often.

Another savy person I like is DR Mercola He has many articles that are extremely helpful, and his newsletter is very good.

And my other fav nutrition site is Wellness Resources. I use this site to research vitamins & supplements. I have learned more from this site than any I have been to for vitamin info. He is a cert clinical nutritionist. Once I am graduated from my current degree that is my next avenue of study. I find clinical nutritionists know far more about alt health nutrition issues.I have bought some of their products after long research. Their combo products are cost effective.

Sarafire hurried to class. She was almost late by one minute when she rushed through the door and found her seat in the back. She was panting and blushed in embarrassment at the same time. Mentally, she scowled herself for sleeping in again and then taking more time than she needed. She really had to work on her time management.

The rest of the class didnt seem to notice her. Sarafire looked around and saw Partin and her catty friends sitting together, talking like normal. They had learned nothing, Sarafire realized. They had nothing to fear. Their only problem was they lacked fear and were over confident in their future. Sarafire reflected that she knew too much of fear and uncertainty. Doubt was a common friend and one that did not serve the Force well.

The class went dead silent when a distant bell went off, signaling it was time for class to begin. But there was one problem. There was no teacher to start the class. All eyes searched around the room, but there was no teacher to be found. Sarafire had begun to wonder if something had happen when the door open and in came the teacher.

Good morning class

Good morning Master Yoda.

The class had been trained since they were little to call out in unionism. Sarafire wondered why. Was this a sign of respect? Or was this a way to make the class think as one? She certainty didnt think or act like the rest of the class.

The teacher went to the front of the class and looked around, casting his glaze on each student. The room was so silently, she could hear the breath of the students. She blushed slightly and lowered her eyes when it came her turn to be looked upon.

A special surprise I have for you. A story, a classmate, will tell to you.

The class was silent. Sarafires mind raced. She had done her reading, of course, but she did not realize what the reading was for. She thought she might be quizzed on it in some private setting. She wondered if there would be time to review the story one last time.

Sarafire, come.

She trembled as she stood up and took wobbly steps to the front of the class. She hated this. She hated it when teachers made her stand in front of the class and speak. It was hard enough to speak in her chair, in the back corner. This was far worse. All eyes were on her. She had to face them. She had to stare into their eyes and see what they thought of her. She saw the half hidden smiles of contempt and the smirks peeking through tightly pressed lips. She knew they were dying to laugh at her, but they wouldnt dare let a snort out, in fear of being lectured by Master Yoda, who knew all, sensed all, and saw all.

She opened her mouth, but wasnt sure what to say. She locked her shaking knees and wished she wasnt here.

Tell us, she will, of the story the Nuna and the Krayt Dragon.

She swallowed and looked around at the class. They were all waiting for her to talk, probably wondering why she was telling the story and not the Jedi Master. She decided just to get this over with and took a deep breath to try to calm down her jittery nerves.

Once a upon a time there was a man. He was a normal man who lived a normal life with a family and children. He wasnt like the Jedi in that he was always striving for peace, but he was not fond of anger either.

One day he noticed he was angry. He thought about his anger and realized that he was angry a lot. His children made him angry. His wife made him angry. He work made him angry. Yet, he did not like this anger and he wanted to do something about it, only he wasnt sure what to do.

He told his wife his problem. The wife was overjoyed because she had longed for him to notice his fiery temper. His wife told him to go see the local wise man. So the normal man traveled to the edge of town, on top of a hill, where the old wise man lived.

He told the wise man about his anger and how he didnt want to be angry. He concluded that he wasnt sure why he was always angry, but he had to do something about the problem.

The wise man smiled, for this was a simple problem to fix. He told the normal man that he had two animals inside of him. One was a Nuna, a sweet bird who sang beautiful, peaceful songs and inspired calm all around it. The other animal was a fierce and angry Krayt Dragon who inspired rage and fear in the hearts of all who looked at the beast. Both animals were hungry and both made their own sounds for attention.

The reason for the normal mans anger was because he was only paying attention to the roaring and thus feeding the Krayt Dragon. So, the man felt much anger inside of himself and inspired fear and anger in the hearts of his family. If the man were to feed the sweet Nuna, his life would change and he would find himself a happier man.

The normal man jumped up and cried in joy. The wise man was right. He had only been feeding his anger. He thanked the old man and ran back to his family. From then on, he remembered to listen to the beautiful song of the birds and felt peace until the end of his days. The end.

The class was silent for a second and when Master Yoda started to clap, only then did the rest of the class broke the silence. They all seemed to be stunned. She wasnt sure. Was her story bad or good? She was pretty sure she got all the facts right.

Good. Sit down you may.

She hurried back to her seat, deeply sighing in sweet relief. She noticed some of the students were watching her.

There was a tapping noise that came from the Jedi. He was tapping his walking stick to bring back attention to him.

What do we learn from this?

Several hands went up in the air. He nodded at each student to speak.

We shouldnt be angry.

Anger hurts everyone.

Everyone should strive for peace, not just Jedi.

Listen to old, wise people.

The last remark got a laugh from everyone, include the Master. He allowed the class to have a moment of fun and then turned the focus back on the story.

Good points, but not the one Im looking for.

Because Sarafire had spent so much time with him, she began to see what he was looking for. She decided to be brave and do something she had never done in his classes and something she was still new at. She raised her hand. He nodded at her. The whole class turned around to look at her. She noticed Partin was smirking in a rather rude, unJedi like way.

Dont give in to anger?

Go on.

Um, dont just strive for peace, but listen for it? I mean, dont we all have a little bird singing to us? So it all depends on what were looking for. If we look for hate, we find it. If we look for peace, well find it. Right?

Yes it is young one. Listen to her, you all should. Listen to the bird, she has, while many of you have listened to the dragon.

She noticed he was looking at Partin and her surrounding friends. Partin had gone very still and had a fake innocent look on her face. Sarafire wasnt fooled at all. There was no way Partin could pull this off.

Class dismissed.

There was a bell that rang softly, ending the class officially. The students got up and left. Sarafire walked out of the classroom, noticing that Partin was still behind, half looking at the little Jedi Master. Sarafired wondered what this was all about, but knew she had to go on to her next class.

Indeed I myself believe this to be a good post especially 5. GUILT ENSLAVES YOU. RESPONSIBILITY LIBERATES YOU. I am an honest person myself infact some of my friends claim im too honest for my own good the only nay say I have is about 8. NOBODY WAKES UP IN THE MORNING CHOOSING TO BE THE VILLAIN, I live in a nice quiet village but there is a very rough council estate almost right next us, Mylife has known to cross over those borders and I know people who donot think of themselves as heros atall infact they know exactly what they are doing and enjoy it but yes for the most it is a very good post and has some good guidelines to live your life on.

Anyway when Bruce Lee was filming Enter the Dragon he was learning the ways of Den Mak to show the explosive power of the human mind, it was speculated by a few people that this is the reason of the cerebral adema that killed him, some of the Xiao Lin Monks in San Fransico believed he had caused a block in his Qi from learning the "forbidden arts" and thus to balance the conflict he was killed by the balancing powers of life.

It is little if not known by a few people, only people that had a real close friendship with Master Lee's family and Master Lee himself know this, now I don't know the family personally but we have a mutual friend who was on the set of Bruce Lee's last movie and that of Brandon's film the crow when he to died, so there is a chance that what he has told me is true from a certain point of view. lol

But yeah back to the actual meaning of this thread, if possible.

Something more that I wanted to add...

I miss the holidays...the true holidays that I used to have. Three weeks prior to Christmas, my mother, grandmother and I would make homemade chocolate covered cherries so that the liquid would form perfectly for the day, then we'd spend the week prior to Christmas making holiday candy like fudge, mints, divinity, turtles and more. For Christmas Eve we'd have fingerfoods like BBQ chicken wings, raw fried potatoes and such...the evening was simply filled with the smells of good food. We open presents from each other that evening. On Christmas Day we'd have freshly baked cinammon rolls with icing, cresent rolls, and then of course the ham for lunch. We'd open the "Santa" presents late that morning before we ate. It was a great time. When my parents got divorced, things changed..but somehow endured. When my Grandfather joined with the Force, things really left us. Now I am divorced and I know that giving that experience to my little girl will be so hard. I am saddened that the holidays are not really the holidays anymore. I really do miss the experience of a true holiday.

To continue the thread here, I'd like to get little more in depth with each aspect of the path. So first ewe have.........

You see it's easy to just say we understand. But do we really? Most people do understand, but only on their terms. Even the most open minded of people will always see things at least in part based on their past experience. That's not to say we don't understand, it's just that the truth gets clouded by our biases. This is just in our nature and if left alone just can't be helped. It's also easy to say "Well I don;t have any bias, you don't know what your talking about!" but that in itself is biased. In fact my trying to highlight this shows my own bias on the subject. from this point on I'll try my hardest to keep my opinions to a minimum. It's not easy, but it's necessary to learn to objectively identify our bias and "pull the weeds" so to speak.

We really can't see the true picture while looking through a filled glass. No matter how we look the image will always be distorted. It's only when we remove the water, and then the glass itself, that we see with our eyes and not our emotions or our mind. We need to see because we SEE it and not because we believe it to be there. Say we're walking and up ahead a rope like object appears. You say to me stop! it's a snake. Now say you stay where you are while I go and look at it. If i were to tell you it's just a rope and not a snake, but you believe it to be a snake, that is to say your already predisposed to believe it's a snake, then no matter how I plead with you or try to convince you you'll react to it as if it were a snake. Even though in reality it's only a rope,for all intent and purpose it IS a snake. Yet It is only because your mind made it so. So in this way we've let our bias, or belief, color the truth. This goes on all the time in our minds without our being aware of it. This is looking through the full glass.

So how do we empty the glass then? Now there's the rub! See I really can't tell you how to do it. You have to experience it for yourself. It takes diligence, commitment, and honesty and loving-kindness, but it can and will be done. Diligence to continue down a path that may have no clear end, because it's the journey that shapes us. Commitment to yourself and your betterment, because that is the true key to making the word a better place. Honesty to help you see what and why you feel and think the way you do, and the courage to accept that some things need to change, and some things need to die off altogether. And most of all loving-kindness to yourself in the process of change and transformation you've embarked on. Because as we think, so we become. If your kind to yourself in your thoughts and judgments, and in the process of change, that kindness will extend to all living things. In these acts not only lies the key to right understanding but to all of your oaths as Jedi.

Ugh, this is the most boring place I could be, I thought to myself during math. Out of the corner of my eye I saw something glimmering in the front of the room. It looked like a giant worm with wings, but mechanical. None of the others saw it so I believed I just imagined it. It came closer and I followed my instincts, I jumped and shouted to look, and as I did that everything stopped around me. The machine moved closer and said,
Greetings, I come from a people that believe you have great potential to be a member of their ranks. My master would like to know you name though.
After I got use to the idea of this machine talking I said,
Alex, my name is Alex. Suddenly I was filled with questions. Who are your people? Where do you come from? And why do they want me?
I cannot explain this to you; most of your questions will be answered in this video, it said.
The Machine shot out goggles and headphones out of it back. The Machine jumped and caught it then handed it to me. When I put them on I saw spaceships and huge cities

I see the ceremonial hilts as just that, a ceremonial weapon ment to be a constant reminder of the commitment we make in being a Jedi. Many religions have a ceremonial weapon, worn as a reminder, not to be used as a weapon but as a religious right because of it's symbolim.

The light saber carries with it a mind set. Not to be aware of it is to miss tons of knowledge about the concept of the hero and the phylosophy behind the weapon he carries.
