Thank you for that knowledge Cipher *bows* and Yes Juvehil I remember when the toy lightsabers came out in the 80's and it wasn't even a color is was just white and a black handle with stickers on it. I am happy that we have evolved to where we are now. I even love the toy lightsabers you can buy at walmart where the blade retracts all the way into the hilt and you can carry it on your belt.

Master Octagon your going to love this one.. and most of my fellow jedi as well... I was siting in contemplation of my life events and all the things that has happened the whys the hows etc.. i measured my intentions with my efforts..
an entertaining thought had entered my mind..

If we only do things that are positive where do the negative things go.. Have you ever noticed bad things seem hover around really good people.. and these people they strive to be good.. and the reverse also true..

hmmm. positive can not exist without its negative counter part.. what happens when all we are pushing out is positive..
well id like to call it a vitamin n deficiency .. n meaning negative ... opposites attract... when we are not neutral
We are deficient on one end or the other.. thus attracting the deficient elements..

Perhaps its not enough to be light in this world but rather a blinking one..

love to hear everyone's thoughts on this one

General Discussions:: Questions about Ásatrú
Of course, forgive me. Ásatrú, Forn sídr or Odinism is are various names for the old Nordic faith, where people hold a pantheon of gods in worship. Oden, Tor, Frej and Freja (Odin, Thor, Frey and Freya in their english spelling) are the most popular known. These gods are known as Asarna or Aesir.

Rozen, The energies that I feel closest too always vary, when I try to solve a problem, the energy of Oden. In fight, Tor and Tyr. When I work the earth, Frej. All the Gods/specific energies hold their part and make up life.

Yoda's Den:: Attack of the Clone Jedi Robes
I remember reading somewhere that the robes were supposed to be the outfits worn more or less by the common people. That allowed the Jedi to blend in with the general population.

Since the movies focus on the Jedi it would be easy to think of the clothes as uniforms, but if you look at a lot of religious orders you would see that many just settle on a style of dress that was common when the order was first started but later stood out because the clothes were never updated to contemporary common garb, because they became a tradition.

THE CONSTANT MIND OF HAPPINESS [by MikeBudo]

General Discussions:: THE CONSTANT MIND OF HAPPINESS
Greetings Each

I found this while furthering my studies on Ki and The Way. I'm very much focused on "The State of Mind" at the moment and I believe this passage fits in very well :)

When someone asks if you’re happy how do you respond? Chances are you do a quick assessment of your emotions, current state of well being and give a reply. Many people will reply with, “yes” but are they being 100 percent honest, or is it just an easy answer to a moment to moment question?

The fact is our state of mind changes constantly. When we are asked such a question, it is almost impossible to give an honest answer. Positive and negative events in our lives happen quickly, which can weigh heavily on our thoughts, feelings, and emotions. More often than not our mental state usually reflects what is happening in our life at that moment. Matthieu Ricard a Buddhist monk who has been called the Happiest Man Alive shares his insights in an interview with Dan Harris, on the show “Beliefs” Copyright 2011 ABC News, about how we can guide our mind and heart closer to peace and happiness as a continuous state of being.

Matthieu suggests mindfulness is a key factor for sustaining happiness. Mindfulness is the state of being where you focus on the present moment. When your attention is in the present moment you are not thinking about the past or worrying about the future.

An easy exercise to utilize when you want to create more focused attention is to use a simple task such as; cooking dinner or doing the dishes. When I practice mindfulness, I will repeat in my mind what physical act I am doing. For example; I say, “I am sauteing the onions and that is all I am doing.” When my thoughts float away from me and they do, I gently bring my attention back to what I am physically doing at that moment.

Matthieu recommends starting a meditation practice to have a peaceful and happy mind. Again meditation will help you broaden your focus on the present moment. The act of focus alone releases you from feelings and emotions tied into worry, fear, anger, and sadness, which allows you to create more peace and happiness in your life.

Mindfulness and meditation will also help the Reaction Factor. When something happens that makes you upset or angry, try suspending your reply even for a few seconds. Suspending your response can benefit sustaining your happiness because in that few seconds you have time to think. By allowing yourself those few seconds, you can alter your reaction completely and allow you to re-act in a calmer way.

This also brings in the eight fold path which I find helps me as an individual
Right view,
Right aspiration,
Right speech,
Right action,
Right livelihood,
Right effort,
Right mindfulness,
Right concentration

Also one of my favourite terms of "Munen Mushin" No thought No Mind,

All of this takes time, but isn’t having happiness a constant state of mind well worth it?

Yours in the spirit of Budo

Mike

Don't know if this will be much help .. but i notice that everyone keeps referring to these travels in mediation as mental thoughts only.. a recollection of the feeling to draw from.. .. when i am in meditation i travel in spirit.. to these places i hold dear.. in memory recollection it is possible to build your perception of that world you remember and add to it and shape it.. not so hard kinda like painting.. you can match that feeling within and resonate the likeness but that energy you felt before came from without.. not from within.. and you will find it will be tiring to hold that resonance.. the mind is a tool the spirit is the you..
Where the heart lays the spirit will travel..

Auredur, try it and see what happens. Do it for awhile and you will be surprised at what you feel. This has a practical side. Many people die every year from tainted food. With this developed skill, you will be able to sense food that may harm you.

Do not apologize. I found no darkness in your statements. Your intent is truth and there is nothing wrong in seeking it and seeking to express it. We are one.

General Discussions:: Crystals and plasma.. how do they effect eachother?
By "lightsaber" do you mean the blade or the hilt? Because the blade would have to be heated to some extent and in order for light to be created by it a lot of heat would be generated.

I looked up some materials and see it is definitely possible to get a hilt the size of a standard hilt that would withstand the temperatures involved, but there would be an insulation problem so there would still be an issue with the hilt containing that heat and keeping it from reaching the hand. Crystal technology or not, we don't have the technology to contain heat in such a way. If we do I don't believe it is available to the public.

Dexter's Diner:: 'Monolith' Object on Mars?
Quote:

I did some research on Mars in college and all of the scientist that I read about say that humans wouldnt live to make it to Mars... But about what Janari said about the animals, there is a captive orca in Miami that is in an inadequate tank, her skin is blistered from the sun where she is unable to get deep enough in the water to cover herself completely.

We wouldn't make it to Mars with modern technology, no. No way. That's one of the flaws in the theory of us coming here from Mars, a method how in which we could survive the trip has yet to be explained. Some have theorized we were sent in a "just add water" type fashion, but evidence suggesting that (for example, a pod that carried our DNA) has yet to be provided. No signs of any such advanced technology. Regardless, stasis chambers can be developed to allow us to survive the trip to Mars. Increased speeds in our vessels would also help. We just need to advance a bit further.

Here is a link to something that's been songified about Mars.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZ5sWfhkpE0

Edit: The song linked above is a selection of scientist's words, speeches and interviews, being songified together. It's pretty cool.

As for that orca, I was referring to natural environments. The fact that the orca is in captivity removes that factor by default. That's sad though. I hope they take care of that soon.

General Discussions:: small debate on force usage
Quote:

what are the possible dangers of developing force skills?

It really depends on the manner in which the abilities develop. Let's say they just occur naturally in such a fashion that eventually we are born with them. Not understanding them at first, we could easily hurt ourselves. We could speed ourselves up to fast and hit a wall, or jump to high and fail to use our own abilities to cushion the landing. We could become proud and arrogant in our abilities, eventually forming competitions and sports based entirely on them.

No doubt in an attempt to get stronger in these abilities for the created sports, people would push themselves to and beyond the limit. Eventually our limits would be discovered as equivalent injuries to pulled muscles and cramps would occur. Medicine would have to advance to cover these new developments, but depending on specifics it is possible victims would feel as if they were receiving prehistoric medical care. The first victims would likely be studied and analyzed more than helped in the hopes of discovering ways of helping the vast numbers of victims who would no doubt follow.

The routine of war would be rewritten as our newfound abilities are used in combat. Such power used against others could wreak more havoc than many modern day weapons and even some artillery. In fact, if one individual is strong enough, he could do the job of a nuke on an entire city sparing nobody.

And of course combat could be the first signs of development. It's unlikely that everyone would wake up with these abilities at the exact same time. Some would gain it then others. If the first people to gain it chose to abuse it we could easily see people like Emperor Palpatine or Darth Vader wandering around, using their powers for personal gain instead of to help others. Many places would become more dangerous. Even if more heroic people were to gain the abilities and use them to try stopping these villains, innocent people could quickly be caught up in the fight between two newly developed individuals. Accidents can happen.

I'm sure the list goes on. However, if we develop these abilities through dedication and meditation the risks are much fewer. It is likely that by the time the abilities are developed the individual would be wise enough not to abuse them in such a way and old enough not to be to immature about it.

Force Studies:: HELP!
Swifty Wrote:

I am doing a class presentation on Judism.
I have to go before my class and pretend as if I was a member of Jedism.
I was wondering if someone can help me and tell me important information so that I may represent your religion in an accurate and respectful manor.
Can you give me any tips on what to say? Maybe tell me a insider story I could use? Also I purchased a light saber and have a hood that I can sport during the presentation.

Also can you answer these questions for me:

Why am I glad to be a member of Jediism?

How does it add to your meaning in life?

-----------------------------------------------------------
Greetings Swifty,

I am happy to see another here in the Temple. Regardless of your reasons, you have come to us to seek knowledge and wisdom. I formally greet your entrance to the Temple of the Jedi Force. So, let me see if I am able to help you out. For most of your information, look into our FAQ section and search out the Official Temple Doctrine. This will answer many questions for you, and perhaps bring even more up.

Jediism is a practice of beliefs. We do not worship the Force (or George Lucas) or have religeous holidays. Our beliefs and practices come from a variety of faiths and belief systems such as Bushido, Chivarly, Taoism, Buddhism, Christianity and many others. Although some of us, such as myself, are fans of the Star Wars movies and other media, it is definitely not a requirement. In that light, this is not a Role Play site, but a group of like-minded men and women who have come together to share and build knowledge and wisdom.

As has been mentioned earlier, feel free to wear your robes and link a lightsaber to your belt. We actually do not require robes, although most of us have them. The lightsaber, as you know, is not a real weapon that exists in our current level of technology. However, for purely ceremonial use, most of us wear a personally unique designed hilt at our hips.

Why am I glad to be a member of Jediism?
Good question. It is not so much a sense of pride, but an honor to serve and learn among others who are like me in some respects. I am glad to see that as a synchronistic belief system, we are all able to get along and understand each other's points of view. The truths that we hold to depend greatly on our point of view.

How does it add meaning to my life?
I never was a religious man. I believed in a higher power, but did not name it or worship it. If I were meant to understand it all, I would be the power, not the onlooker of it. If anything, being a Jedi helps give me definition to my life, a definition that evolves from time to time, but keeps me on a path.

I hope this answers your questions for you. If you have any more, feel free to ask.

May the Force be With You,
Jedi Grayson Dark

Thank you master, its something I've always been aware off and has had me saying a few times to people "I told you so" like when someone showed their true colours after about a month off putting up an act.although I felt something was missing, there energy did not match their appearance if that makes any sense at all.the energy was dark but it wasn't pain or hurt I felt it was misery and upset, but also it has helped me in a good way, around 6yrs ago I was getting chased by a gang of lads with fence post with nails hanging out.I had no idea where I was as was visting a friend but although I had no idea where I was I seemed to find her house within a matter of moments, inside I felt like I knew where the house was and just trusted in my judgement, still to this day if I feel something needs doing a certain way I trust my own judgement.

Answered in Chat:
Welcome! You have entered [Temple Lobby] at 10:12 am
/backtime 10
[JenariOborot] 10:12 am: Welcome to the Temple Chat.
[swifty] 10:12 am: I am doing a class presentation on Judism.
I have to go before my class and pretend as if I was a member of Jedism.
I was wondering if someone can help me and tell me important information so that I may represent your religion in an accurate and respectful manor.
Can you give me any tips on what to say? Thanks
[JenariOborot] 10:17 am: Why am I glad to be a membwer of Jediism?: I'm glad to be a practicing Jedi because it helps me achieve a sense of usefulness to my community, and a greater sense of self controll than I had been able to achieve before I became a Jedi.
[JenariOborot] 10:18 am: I have also learned to be more comfortable with myself as a person, and more comfortable recognising my emotions and where they come from, & then to let them go.
[JenariOborot] 10:19 am: I am also glad for a greater sense of interconnection with my environment, and to the force.
[swifty] 10:21 am: Thats really powerful and amazing! Thank you for sharing
[JenariOborot] 10:21 am: How does it add to my meaning in life?: As I mentioned earlier it has helped me achieve more of a sense of usefulness. I wouldn't say it allowed me to become usefull, but it gave me a good excuse to do what I should have been doing all along; Helping people who need my help, and growing as an individual (spiritually) more than I had previously.
[JenariOborot] 10:21 am: You're welcome. Any other areas I can help in?
[swifty] 10:22 am: Yeah, One last thing
[swifty] 10:22 am: that was very helpful btw
[swifty] 10:23 am: I wanted to dress up in a hood and light saber. Is that okay? or would it be disrespectful?
[JenariOborot] 10:24 am: It's just fine by me, & I'm sure the others wouldn't mind either. We draw a distinction between rolpe playing and Jediism, & we generally don't presume to tell other people how to dress or think.
[swifty] 10:25 am: okay, would it be correct if I did a few light saber moves? or should I just keep the light saber on my belt?
[JenariOborot] 10:25 am: *role playing, not rolpe playing. LOL
[JenariOborot] 10:25 am: totally up to you.
[swifty] 10:26 am: okay
[swifty] 10:26 am: thankyou!
[swifty] 10:26 am: May the force be with you
[JenariOborot] 10:26 am: And with you. Namaste.
[swifty] 10:27 am: One last thing
[JenariOborot] 10:27 am: Yes?
[swifty] 10:27 am: Where are you from? im in Utah
[JenariOborot] 10:28 am: Ah, I live in Portland Oregon. Where in Utah, I know some jedi that live out there.
[JenariOborot] 10:28 am: and I have family out there too.
[swifty] 10:29 am: Salt Lake City
[swifty] 10:29 am: I love that show Portlandia!! love Portland
[JenariOborot] 10:30 am: Neat, I've lived there.
[JenariOborot] 10:30 am: Infact my little brother lives out there.
[swifty] 10:30 am: Does he go to school at the college?
[JenariOborot] 10:30 am: If ou're interested I could point you at a Jedi organization out in your area.
[JenariOborot] 10:30 am: I don't believe so.
[JenariOborot] 10:31 am: You'd probably reccognise him if you saw him. He's got big black "X"s tattooed on his hands.
[JenariOborot] 10:32 am: He works at Cafe Marmalade
[swifty] 10:33 am: o don't know him
[JenariOborot] 10:33 am: Lol, no worries. I didn't figure you would.
[JenariOborot] 10:36 am: What class is this for?
[swifty] 10:38 am: Religions
[Temple Lobby]: has left at 10:39 am
[JenariOborot] 10:39 am: Cool. So you chose Jediism to do your presentation, that's kinda neat. What lead you to chose Jediism?
[JenariOborot] 10:39 am: ....ok, bye then.

Memorized the movies, played the RPG, read the novels and even had a set of robes with a lightsaber hilt just because I was running the first d20 version of Star Wars by Wizards of the Coast.

Six years later, here I am, one of the presiding Masters helping to not only train new Jedi, but to assist the sculpting of the Temple and the Community of the future as I work to aspire a deserving member of Jediism.

It is amazing to think about. Most of us that first come here KNOW NOTHING about being a real Jedi, and the only knowledge we have on the issue is from the books and the movies and the whatnots...the fictional aspect of things...BUT we have the very real knowledge of morality and kindness and wisdom. It only becomes a matter of time before we are trained to fuse these two separate elements into a realistic aggregation and get on with an adjusted artery within the path of Jediism...

I really like being a part of something so big with a purpose. And I like to see how all of us have changed over time. Go back and read your very first posts...you'll be amazed at some of the things you've probably said...

Force Studies:: Force Sensetivity
Greetings Each Bows

I do think that there are some things that we are just not meant to know . Secrets that are withheld from Man because he cannot be trusted. I mean that in general terms and not as individuals.

I am also sure that there are some out there that do understand these secrets and only share them with a selected group so they can be passed on and kept in safety.

From my own studies regarding the spiritual awakening of man . I found quite a lot of information that in a way backs this up.

The Native American Indian Sums it up quite well they just call it The Great Mystery and just get on with it.

South America ,Polynisia Egypt and the Far East have an abundance of 'mysteries'. A lot of these are documented in books such as Heavens Mirror and The Chariots of the Gods.

These are only mysteries because no one has actually found an answer which'They' consider scientifically feasible. Yet as with Easter Island and 'The Walking Statues' The answer was simple. We just moved them.

I have a very dear friend who is Maori, one of her family is a traditional Navigator. Apparently, she tells me there are signs in the see which guide the navigator on his travels. Now that is a mystery to me as I have no idea how or what to look for. but it is not for him as he has the knowledge.

Much can be said of how we feel about the Force. I am sure ,as I have found when I mention the Force to some of my friends they scoff at it I've even had some who have said don't be daft that's all fictional Star wars stuff. The Force is not a mystery to us because we just know.

Speculation in a friendly environment about such mysteries as these is good conversation and a way of accepting and understanding our own individual thoughts and views .

Outside I just accept it as just being part of the Force...... The only true mystery in this universe....is.........WOMAN ...LOl ..I know I know...It's a Joke lol

Bows in Budo Humour

Mike ;)

Jedi Temple Philosophy:: Light and Dark vs. Right and Wrong -- Correlation?
Just as darkness and shadow may obscure something, so too can we be blinded by the light. It is in the proper balance of the two, where each reveals the other, that we find clarity. Good and evil are just labels we use to illustrate the same principle. The issues we may have occur when such labels become more important than the actions or consequences that we enact.
Such labels are only useful in oppositional comparisons. Something that is GOOD is not, and cannot be EVIL, because the two states are mutually defining. Our perspective comes into play of course, nut proves another weakness in the system.
What i see as good, you may see as evil, for many reasons. I may be looking for a more immediate (or future, but different from your) outcome. The is a relativity to everything.
An extreme example is chemotherapy. The treatment is a poison that attacks cancer cells faster because they metabolize improperly fast. Its goal is to kill the cancer before it kills the patient. But the patient suffers nausea, hair loss (and other fast cell damage because some cells are faster than others properly) and other symptoms that can be so bad as to require treatment. A short term evil to do longer term good.
Immediate good can alao have evil outcomes. The story of Oedipus, fated to murder his pwn father, comes to mind. To avoid thia fate a servant is ordered to kill the infant. In an act of pity, to save the child, the servant gives the baby to a stranger met on the road. Tje child grows up, and in a fit of road rage, kills a 'stranger' to him. It is revealed later to have been his birth father.
It is in the proper application, the BALANCE of light and darkness, that we fimd our actions and consequences validated.

General Discussions:: Combating Global Terrorism
Why gas prices are so high - A New way to combat terrorism.

Become a Charity Warrior - "Start your attack runs."

Another reason why gas prices are so high is too keep people from donating their money to the charities that help bring in extra money that goes towards research that funds many types of cancer research as well as helping those here in the U.S. and across the planet by being able to purchase clothes, medicines, food and education for those in third world countries.

Now you wonder how does supporting overseas missions to help the less fortunate counter terrorism?

It is very easy to see.

The terrorists come into a village and force the villagers to be warriors killing those who go against them. The terrorists then use the fighters against their to kill others who do not fall under the will of the terrorist regime.

but...when donations are collected and then used to purchase medicines, food and clothes for the same village where the money has come from the pockets of Americans the villagers will be given a chance to live a life based upon choice and not being forced to do the bidding of the terrorist warlord that would only use them to kill others.

Now is the time to create a new front against terrorism.

Whenever someone calls and asks for a donation even though the amount may seem high and not affordable the amount that you donate is part of the war on terror that will push back terrorism by giving those that the terrorists would use in their killing machine the ability to make a choice in siding with democracy instead of being forced to be a suicide bomber.

If you cannot afford the amount asked for donate at least $5.00.

Be a Charity Warrior in the fight against global terrorism and support the charities that are trying to make the lives of people in third world countries better....don't let the Taliban and Al-Qaeda forces get to them first.

Every amount that you donate to any charity makes you a fighter against global terrorism.

"Lock S-Foils into attack positions."

"May the Force be with you in this fight."

General Discussions:: MEETING THE MYSTERY (AWARENESS)
Greetings each

Found some more info which sort of connects with the above post. This is based on Trying to understand Enlightenment. which I believe is connected to awareness.I've changed some of the wording as I have put as my own prospective. Though I do agree with what is written. However one should come to a conclusion one ones own evidence and not just because someone says so :).

Consider this: in our everyday state of consciousness, we regard our body to be extremely limited. What's more, we feel that this body is the major source of all our sufferings ,the feelings of pain arise in the body, the fear of illnesses and death are intimately connected to the body, etc. On the other hand,When we think bright, encouraging thoughts about our minds, and our imaginative capabilities. Whilst the body is weak, limited and prone to breaking down easily, the mind is sovereign, it is our sanctuary and can give us a glimpse of the victory over our humiliating conditions. Our conscious thoughts seemingly know no bounds we can fantasize to our hearts content about ideal conditions, distant lands, nice, heart warming events and circumstances. We can easily imagine pigs with wings something that's impossible for the nature itself to accomplish. What can possibly stop our imagination? And look, it's not only idle daydreaming ,all the achievements that the science, technology, art and philosophy can boast of, all have their origin in imagination.

Well, Does the experience of Enlightenment changes all that? Does it, turn things on their heads? Upon opening our mind's eye, we see that it is our conscious mind that is extremely limited, feeble, and prone to easily break down. Our body, which we have despised so much, turns out to be the wondrous limitless reality , we can go anywhere, climb any mountain and hill. Our body enables us to truly live.I think this brings about awareness of the true self.

The experience of nothingness:

No other state of human existence gets to be permeated with the all-encompassing feeling of nothingness. Regularly, we go through life by experiencing the feelings of gain or loss. We reach for something and attain it, or we fail to attain it and then have to cope with the rejection. Or, the flip side of the coin would be that we try to avoid the unpleasant situation and manage to succeed doing it, or fail and have to face the consequences of enduring the unpleasant ordeal. Whichever the case may be, there is no place in this busy enterprise of ours for any feelings of nothingness to creep in. When I read this bit I couldn't help wondering, do we sometimes portray an image of ourselves which we think is acceptable with who we are with or where we might be. I know I have been guilty of both. Mind you at that time I was not particularly well. Fear of rejection or not fitting in. Nowadays. I am who I am and What you see is what you get.

Upon suddenly seeing into our true self-nature, we are left with that unique 'aroma' of nothingness. Some people think that it is a literal, that is a literal black-and-white not anything nothing nothingness (meaning either everything becomes either pitch black or totally white, with no discernment and differentiation.) Not true. Everything is as it is, and if at that moment a car is rushing toward you, you would see it and you'd move out of its way. So, in this respect, it is important to stress that Enlightenment is not a state where all the cortical neural activity has ceased. You continue to function as every other sentient being.

What is this nothingness business then all about? In Buddhism, Zen, and Enlightenment nothingness is refered to as the "great void" or Sunyata, and in general, presented in the sutras and elsewhere similar to the following:
The sutras often use the word "great void" to explain the significance of Sunyata. In general, we understand the "great void" as something that contains absolutely nothing. However, from a Buddhist perspective, the nature of the "great void" implies something which does not obstruct other things, in which all matters perform their own functions. Materials are form, which by their nature, imply obstruction. The special characteristic of the "great void" is non-obstruction. The "great void" therefore, does not serve as an obstacle to them. Since the "great void" exhibits no obstructive tendencies, it serves as the foundation for matter to function. In other words, if there was no "great void" nor characteristic of non-obstruction, it would be impossible for the material world to exist and function.

Enlightenment, is a very unsophisticated state of affairs. To the mind that used to harbor lofty ideals and grand plans, it is a very disappointing incident indeed. You may be saying to yourself: "All these years I have spent building a more perfect head to put on top my own head, and now I see how it's been totally in vain!" I do not think, from my own point of view it has been in vain. All life is a lesson. I was fortunate to have found a different path. I don't think I chose it. I just became AWARE of KI (The Force)a gift if you like. Anymore than I chose to become a Jedi I just found it. :)

"The undisturbed mind is like the calm body water reflecting the brilliance of the moon. Empty the mind and you will realize the undisturbed mind." - Yagyu Jubei

In the beginners mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert's mind there are few"- Suzuki

Yours in the spirit of Budo

Quote:

MikeBudo wrote:

One must practice the art of peace every day.

Funny you should mention that as I'm going over The Art of Peace with my Apprentices...very well said, Mike...

As stated we should never be distant from the energies that surround us. Even the negative energies have a purpose. It gives us something to overcome.

I haven't been in a negative frame of mind for quite sometime now, but when I feel a tremor in the Force the first thing i do is try to identtify it and then contemplate to identify with it... And if there's something I can do to alieviate it, then I do so accordingly. If not, then I focus to bring a balance to it so that i can deal with its existance.

And remember, to all of you, if something is bothering you, your best bet is to let someone know. Be it a Knight or a Master, someone will always be there to help give you a better perspective on things if you are struggling to deal with something. Just open your mind and be honest. No one will judge you.

Greetings Each

First of all I'd like to say this is in NO way a plug for this book. Also I am not the the Mike O'Hare that wrote the book either lol. Though he and Elfreda are now both friends of mine via FB,

When I first started taking to Mike is was just coincidence that we both had the same name. He later formed a group called the Meadow which I was invited to join. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of spiritual and like minded people I found in that group as well as here.

Anyway to be brief I found this link with some rather interesting short videos relating to the Meadow. I have found some similarities with what we (I hope) follow here.

Have a look at the short Video and make your own mind up.

http://youtu.be/PYlHjSy4GT0

Yours in the Spirit of Budo

Mike

I concur with both Juvehil and Glover. One of the beauties of the world is meeting unique people that would show you things you never saw or experienced before. Now to be around others that lived like me I would love for a community but I would also not want to be kept from the rest of the world either. In perspective this Jedi community would be much like a Amish Community.

Greetings Each

No English dictionary has been able to explain the difference between the two words COMPLETE and FINISHED, in a way that's easy to understand.

Some people say there is no difference between COMPLETE & FINISHED.

I beg to differ because there is. When you marry the right woman, you are "COMPLETE" And when you marry the wrong one, you are "FINISHED"!

And when the right one catches you with the wrong one, you are...
"COMPLETELY FINISHED" !!!

Yours in humours Budo

Mike

2013- Tennessee Jedi Gathering? [by Randi]

The Greater Jedi Community:: 2013- Tennessee Jedi Gathering?
Though, any Shadows or Dark Adepts are certainly encouraged to come (and wanted!)

So, here's the deal, I'm wanting to get a Jedi Gathering hosted in Tennessee, problem is, I don't really know where to start looking. I've found a couple of prospects...but the area I'd prefer...is kind of pricey...so I looked around for a second choice...and it's just too far from an airport.

So, I'm asking the Community-if you were to come, where would you like to have it?

(Keep in mind, that to keep prices as low as possible, the idea is to try and find a cabin, or a bunch of cabins that can be shared by people coming to the gathering...though, camping out in a tent IS also an option, if you'd prefer the great outdoors. This is also, typically, a four day adventure)

Which would you prefer?

Douglas Lake
Fall Creek Falls
Gatlinburg
Lafollette
Pigeon Forge
Nashville
Sevierville
Wears Valley
(for those who would want to fly-the closest airports to any of these locations is Knoxville and then Chattanooga for Fall Creek Falls)

Diary of DOOM lol [by MikeBudo]

Dexter's Diner:: Diary of DOOM lol
Greetings Each

Got this of a friend I just changed some of the wording to fit myself lol

Dear Diary, For my birthday this year, my kids purchased for me a week of personal training at the local health club. Although I am still in great shape since being a POM for nigh on 10 years in the Army, I decided it would be a good idea to go ahead and give it a try. I called the club and made my reservations with a personal trainer named Amanda, who identified herself as a 26-year-old aerobics instructor and model for athletic clothing and swim wear. Friends seemed pleased with my enthusiasm to get started.. well who wouldn’t

MONDAY: Started my day at 6:00 am. Tough to get out of bed, but found it was well worth it when I arrived at the health club to find Amanda waiting for me. She is something of a Greek godess with blond hair, dancing eyes, and a dazzling white smile. Woo Hoo Amanda gave me a tour and showed me the machines.. I enjoyed watching the skillful way in which she conducted her aerobics class after my workout today. Very inspiring Amanda was encouraging as I did my sit-ups, although my gut was already aching from holding it in the whole time she was around. This is going to be a FANTASTIC week and I know she likes me

TUESDAY: I drank a whole pot of coffee, but I finally made it out the door. Amanda made me lie on my back and push a heavy iron bar into the air then he put weights on it My legs were a little wobbly on the treadmill, but I made the full mile. Her rewarding smile made it all worthwhile. I feel GREAT It's a whole new life for me. *

: WEDNESDAY: The only way I can brush my teeth is by laying the toothbrush on the counter and moving my mouth back and forth over it. I believe I have a hernia in both pectorals. Driving was OK as long as I didn't try to steer or stop. I parked on top of a GEO in the club parking lot. Amanda was impatient with me, insisting that my screams bothered other club members. Her voice is a little too perky for that early in the morning and when she scolds, she gets this nasally whine that is VERY annoying. *
: My chest hurt when I got on the treadmill, so Amanda put me on the stair monster. Why the hell would anyone invent a machine to simulate an activity rendered obsolete by elevators? Amanda told me it would help me get in shape and enjoy life. She said some other #OOPS# too. *

THURSDAY: Madam Sadist was waiting for me with her vampire-like teeth exposed as her thin, cruel lips were pulled back in a full snarl. I couldn't help being a half an hour late-- it took me that long to tie my shoes. Shee took me to work out with dumbbells. When she was not looking, I ran and hid in the restroom. She sent some skinny #OOPS# to find me. Then, as punishment, she put me on the rowing machine-- which I hoped some kind person would torpedo but in the end it sank. *

FRIDAY: I hate that Ober grumpen Furher more than any human being has ever hated any other human being in the history of the world. Stupid, skinny, anaemic, anorexic, little aerobic instructor. If there was a part of my body I could move without unbearable pain, I would beat her with it. Bitchface wanted me to work on my triceps. I don't have any triceps And if you don't want dents in the floor, don't hand me the damn barbells or anything that weighs more than a sandwich. The treadmill flung me off and I landed on a health and nutrition teacher. Why couldn't it have been someone softer, like the drama coach or the choir director? *

: SATURDAY: Bitchface left a message on my answering machine in her grating, shrilly voice wondering why I did not show up today. Just hearing her voice made me want to smash the machine with a hammer; however, I lacked the strength to even use the TV remote and ended up catching eleven straight hours of the Weather Channel.. *

: SUNDAY: I'm having my master pick me up for services today so I can go and give blessings to KI that this week is over. I will also pray that next year my kids will choose a gift for me that is fun-- like a root canal filling or opera performance. I still say if KI had wanted me to be a contortionist , he would have sprinkled the floor with bottles of beer

Have a nice day lol

Yours in Budo

Mike
Dexter's Diner:: A Metrostation's Violinist
You're welcome and yes it does. I had to reflect on my life when I read it. I normally take it easy and relax as I run errands around town, but volunteering or otherwise working I'll get focused on my tasks and forget about the rest of the world. On my way to work I'd stop and spend my spare time listening if I were to cross a violinist playing well, but honestly while I'm working I might not notice it at all...

Jedi Temple Philosophy:: Can Jedi Perform Exorcisms??!!
To quote Master Octagon and his insperation Qui-Gon Jinn "Your focus determines your reality."
If you dwell on negative things no matter how small in time that grain of sand becomes a mountain and then you have a never ending negative collection, to quote my insperation Yoda "Learn to let go you must of the things you fear to lose." Attachments as even said in the qoute Master Octagon posted says that they can be good and bad for you, they can give you happy, love filled emotions as well as angry, hate filled emotions.
As Jedi we must learn to let go of such negative things and focus on the positive things this inturn has a positive effect on the people and things around us and the changes positive thinking has is not subtle at all.

*bows*

Does anyone here play minecraft? Besides the cost for just yourself to get onto the game, it looks like our goal of the SL temple could work here. Does anyone have any experience on Minecraft?
Will

General Discussions:: Taking Control
Greetings Master Octagon

I rather like this post. I try to follow a code of ethics and conduct similar to that of Bushido .

One of the vows is,Make the right choice and do it. Also do one thing one time and do it right.

I also agree one should step back and view ahead when faced with uncertainty . We are all human and we will make errors from time to time. We can reduce these errors by selection a list of importance if you like .

I've taken this next text from a post I put up a while ago The Great Learning. The 'Will' in this case I see as the I's and ego you speak of .

KI (The Force) and Will.
The mind that takes up a stance within and intently considers a matter is called the will. The will is internal but when it is manifested externally it is called Ki. The will can be said to be the master and Ki the servant (or is it the other way round? That is for you as an individual) Will is internal and uses Ki. If Ki overruns its bounds, it stumbles. Ki is reined in by will and should not be made to hurry. It is essential to remain calm so that Ki is reined in by will and will is not dragged along by KI.This is perfect balance , harmony, a passage to the way.

There are many obstructions that face every individual. Some will be overcome with ease others not so. It is also safe to say each person will deal with these in a different way. Fear, uncertainty ,anxiety, closeness, love, friendship, speech.are just a few examples.

If you ask,of yourself five times ,typically the answer lies within.

Well that's my Humble input. Thanks again for sharing that Master Octagon.

Yours in the spirit of Budo

Mike

Jedi Temple Philosophy:: Abortion and the Jedi
Hmm.. interesting. :)

I must confess: I wrote some of the points on purpose - for them to be controversial and to bring up another thing - mentioned by Rozen [hope I can make up for this misbehaviour ;) ] - equality of men and women. But I can see your point.

Women.. and one misconception
But many of the women [in Poland. I can say nearly nothing about other countries] who didn't have[!] the abortion after being raped are now.. how to say: extremely happy that the choice was made this way, not the other, although they weren't that happy right after being raped. They do not find their child to be a reminder of the event but a miraculous being - their child.

Some drawbacks involved..
Sometimes it happens that a woman is in the worse state after the abortion than the ones who gave birth. And for sure - sometimes abortion makes a woman unable to carry the child once again.

Free country - free people.. or opposite?
And so on - I think that it depends on a case. Freedom of abortion has to be left - it's my opinion ;) - because everyone can choose whatever life they want. We can say if their behaviour was beneficial for the society or not. We can judge it [I mean - the court etc.] but, for sure, we shouldn't make people unable to prevent the birth in this way.

Especially the young ones!
I mean: teenagers for example. Both if the pregnancy comes from.. khm.. stupidity and from e.g. rape.

One remark:
Abortion is not only 'killing' the set of cells. Sometimes it is.. done in the later stages of the pregnancy.

On the other hand - do you realize what sometimes abortion look like? If I can find a film - I'll try to post it here - because it becomes clear then that the 'remains' of such 'operation' sometimes are: small hands, bodies, heads - which look like the normal ones, just of a smaller size. The view was horrible.. it was like cutting the [formerly alive!] human being using big tongs/shears.

That is probably one of the most controversial topics and that's why we should not avoid it. It's nice and simple to write e.g. about killing innocent, but it is much more important [and complex] to talk about the.. hmm.. 'taboos'.

Kind regards,
M.

*EDIT*
Master Octagon's post [youtube thing] was.. more than interesting. A bit of science involved :)) - thank you!

Jedi Temple Philosophy:: Pantheism and The Force.
Quote:

jaspex11 wrote:
Morality is limited by its objectiveness. It is absolute, and while the border between good and bad can be very wide or very narrow depending on the subject, the border is nonetheless distinct. It clearly separates what is acceptable, and what is not. Ethical issues are subject to the very issue that is being studied, and the consequences and mitigating factors.
As a general rule, most moral systems state that to kill another person is bad (or wrong, or evil, or whichever negative term applies in the system). However, the debate over capital punishment (the killing of people, by the very structure of the moral system, as a form of punishment) has continued for decades. Euthanasia (the deliberate ending of life as a form of treatment to reduce terminal-suffering) is also fiercely debated. That they can be debated indicates that they are ethical issues- subject to various influences and circumstances- and not moral issues.

Yeah, its all objective...To make a cut may be wounding the flesh, but it may be for the benefit of the patient. Unless the doctor is cynical...Its a very touchy matter indeed. Well written Jaspex.

Jedi Temple Philosophy:: Science and the Meaningful Life
Greetings each

It is a matter of either Doing or not doing . Since I left the British Army some 27 years ago I have seen a more and more 'Can't be bothered' attitude in people in general .

In order to do something that makes a difference it takes effort and that does seem to be lacking . Also with the current mood of the world in general, I think a lot of people tend to just shut themselves away in their own little world and try to avoid everything.

Jedism gives you that sense of purpose that drive to succeed to make a difference and help a fellow human where possible. The reward is awsome but it does take effort.

Yours in the spirit of Budo

Mike

I've heard many metaphors and explanations for the Force, but never have I seen it compared to a song. That is an excellent metaphor and well explained. It reminded me of a vid I saw once in which the "Song of Earth" was played; it was (supposedly) the sound of our planet as it moved.

Force Studies:: The Cure and the disease
Personally I wouldn't worry about this. Only certain types of radiation are harmful. Light and sound waves are actually considered types of radiation; we need light to remain healthy and require sound for communication (exception for sign language and texts, both of which require light, and brail which requires neither).

My question, which would decide for me whether or not the Force's radiation could be a problem, is simply this: Is the Force ionized? If so it could be a problem, but given the number of people who connect to it with no apparent related problems I would assume it is not. If it is it may simply not be so ionized that it is a serious threat.

Personally, given what I know at the moment, I consider connection to the Force as necessary as a decent amount of sunlight is for the skin. Maybe I will suffer if I get to much, but I know I'll suffer if I don't get enough.

Jedi Temple Philosophy:: Jediism and Authority
My credit union has a prominently-placed sign announcing that they want you to remove sunglasses, hoods, etc., before entering their premises. This is so you can be identifiable to the cameras in case you rob the place, one assumes, and so you won't be mistaken as a person who wants to try. I don't remember, but I'm quite sure that the Department of Social and Health Services office also has a similar requirement, and for similar reasons. Yes, there are religions which prescribe head coverings. However, unless you're actually wearing a burqa, they seldom cover the face. I suspect it's the facial covering part that was the issue, and--as was pointed out--Obi Wan removed his hood indoors. In fact, as I recall, he mostly just used it, at least in the first movie, for hiding his face. And protecting it from the elements, which one assumes was not an issue here.

General Discussions:: Near Death Experience
There is an ongoing debate about near death experiences. about whether or not it is our brain firing off chemicals similar to a dream causing us to have the visions or if it really is the afterlife. In the name of science has any scientist EVER considered looking into whether or not someone that survived severe brain damage has EVER had a near death experience?

The whole point of the study....if someone was in a coma with little to no brain activity and nearly died or did die for a short time and had a near death experience...then....wow....it couldn't have been produced by the brain right?????

I've never heard of anyone that had severe head trauma having a near death experience though. My personal belief is that it is caused by a chemical reaction in the brain.

Bertenelli's is a good idea. That's one we do like. We normally get that on new years, but this year we didn't have enough left over after Christmas. I'll sneak that in for a dinner drink and we'll make our own Baja Blast for the rest of the day. The Baja Blast is a (hopefully fun) experiment that we both want to try. It is not for everyone but it is for me, and the people around me. We can not always help our fellow men from a safe place, we must take risks.

As you stated here, our duty is to do our absolute best to make the world a better place to the best of our legal abilities. Donating to the poor, giving the bum on the corner a few bucks, helping that old lady cross the street, helping an injured person or an animal, or just by inspiring people to be better by exemplifying civility. No matter how small or cheezy the task may be, they are still powerful way of helping out in the world either way you look at it. Just saying "please" and "thank you" is fighting the war against ignorance.

From your point of view it looks complicated, but be it that I also helped render the Temple logo, from my point of view, the new design is much simpler. Its hand drawn and more natural...its a line drawing that lacks the digital complexities and special effects of the original design. So, its much-much simpler... and more traditionally crest-like

And thank you Cdaae for the compliment **bows**

I would have to say Near-Human...Sephi to be exact. They are practically identical to Humans aside from their pointed ears and elongated life span. If you remember from the comics, #53 had a Sephi named 'Fay', a powerful Jedi during the Clone Wars. Her ideas about the Force are about the same as mine, we look practically identical, and have the same attitude towards fighting and bloodshed. She was kind, considerate, and never walked a straight path. Fay was a wanderer, as I figure I would be - if I were in that universe.

With Ki,
Dina/Spooks

PS: here's the link to the wiki page on Fay:
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Fay

and the Sephi:
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Sephi

General Discussions:: "What Makes A Leader?" A philosophy by Juvehil Kae
Leaders are people who were once followers who had followed until they learned to be leaders. We all start out as followers; as I feel that “original ideas” are far and few between these days. Almost everything that you wear, do, watch, read, study, contemplate, and listen to, has been done before by thousands of people. Your name may be “original”, but not one’s personality. You’ll fall into one of two categories: 1. a person that people enjoy being around OR 2. A person that people don’t enjoy being around. Your personality is a fusion of many-many things that was once taught to you and/or that had inspired you by the actions and/or style of another person (or collective of people).

In your years as a follower, you pretty much sculpt and mold your personality and style, to your own personal perfection. Kinda like adding and subtracting chemicals from a science experiment until you find that perfect recipe. This is why “nobody’s perfect”, yet, everybody’s perfect to someone else. I feel that a leader is someone who loves who they are; not necessarily in a vein type of way, but someone who’s not afraid of what they wear, or what they feel, or what they believe in. A leader respects people’s opinions and doesn’t care if they are looked down upon for who they are, what they do, or what they wear. If you find yourself getting easily depressed or offended by others’ criticisms, then perhaps you are still a follower trying to re-sculpt a few aspects of your being. But, eventually, you’ll get to where YOU WANT to be. Being a follower is never a bad thing, as long as you are led to good places! Always remember that!!!

I dislike when people say, “be a leader, not a follower”, because you pretty much NEED to be a follower until you discover how to be a leader! It goes along the lines of when people are trying to talk themselves up to others saying things like, “I’m not fake! I’m real!...This is who I am! I’m real!”…Yeah, but what really makes the head itch, is that WHO is gonna sit there and be like, “STICK WITH ME, I’M FAKE!” Nobody’s gonna admit to being “Fake”!!! I believe that what makes one fake is when you have a follower who loves the masquerade and loves to be like other people so much, that they can never balance their collected and borrowed emotional segments to find their own identity. It makes sense. “Real” people are the leaders who can admit to once being followers and appreciating and loving others for inspiring them to become who they are!
You're very welcome, StarStreaker! I have really enjoyed studying this art, and hope to put it into practice more often. It is a shame that Kiatsu is not very widely known - as Tohei says in his book, 'Ki In Daily Life', "Man today has his eyes trained only on the society of man...They have forgotten the universal world of Nature." If only we can look more at the universal world and not so much on the busy thrumming of daily life, perhaps more people would see the benefits of such practices as Kiatsu and Breathing Meditation.

With Ki,
Dina

Jedi Temple Philosophy:: Where’s My Bleeping Happy Ending?!?
Quote:

JediKaren wrote:

In Jediism, we are so focused on being a knight or a master, or powerful in whatever, we don’t appreciate the process our teachers put us through. We forget that being a Jedi is to find some joy in the learning and the doing of the joy. Reaching the title is just one tiny moment that is quickly erased with demands. You’ll soon forget about the one minute glory you felt after a year or more of struggles. You may be reading this to finish, but you started out reading to learn how this article is going to progress. So slow down and enjoy your training. You’ll be a knight or master or god someday. And when you do, you can never be that student again of Jediism the way you are now.

This is a good post and excellent reminder that the journey matters more than the goal. But with respect, Master Karen, I do not believe as many of us here at the Temple are as focused on gaining rank as you believe, or at least that is the impression I’ve been given. The general feel I get is that most are focused on their training, the knowledge and wisdom they gain on that path. Oh sure when it gets close to Knighting or graduation to Master people are happy because of it and focuses a little bit extra but that is to a part of the journey is it not? As for never being able to be the student of Jediism that I am now, well I can never be the student I was when I first joined this Temple.

That is also a part of the journey, I do not think many of us see it as the ultimate goal with our training to become a Master, but rather it’s like walking along a forest path.
When you are an initiate, you crawl on all fours along it, missing the sights around you because you need to see where you put your hands so as to not hurt yourself on sharp rocks and the like. When you reach Apprentice hood, you have learned to crawl without looking and so you can look at the trees, maybe focus on listening on the birdsong a bit. As you become Knighted, You stand up and walk, again seeing more of the forest that surrounds you, but your steps are unsure and a bit on the loud side, so you don’t see many squirrels and such, When you become Master, you have learned to walk slowly and purposefully, and can take in even more of the sights, and maybe even catch a glimpse of the animals in the forest. But seeing all that does not make your journey complete, it just allows you to journey onwards again.

Thank you for reading/

Beinir

Yes the book I am reading and whre I got all this from relates to one such Samurai. Munenori was the Shoguns personnel Trainer and was forbiden to engage in any live combat. It is said he was challenged by an up and coming Samurai who was regarded by many as being very proficient. He eventually met with Munenori and was unable to do anything against him. His visual stare was enough to defeat the young samurai .

Yours in budo

Mike

While I agree that the philosophical discussion is fascinating and absolutley worth talking about at length, I also feel that it is disrespectful to the OP to veer to much off topic, maybe the militant/peaceful discussion could be continued in its own thread where it also would be easier to follow? Just a suggestion.

As for robes, I ceartinly feel that they are of use during cermonies (weddings, knighting as mentioned by Kreic) but not for everyone. However, the cut of the robe should be individual and to the individuals personal liking and as such would be unsuitable to act as a unifying symbol.

Greetings Tempest San Bows

I like it :), The capacity to learn as you say is in all of us. As the ego is individual some subjects will not appeal to one person and may seem fantastic to another.

Somewhere along the line of evolution, Man detached himself from the laws of nature and went on a different path.( now there's a controversial view if there ever was one lol )However with the correct balance of learning Ie Butchers ,bakers, tailors etc. The system would work quite well.BUT we are talking Human here..enough said on that.

Knowledge is like a pet dog in my opinion . It will follow you everywhere regardless of which path you decide to follow.

How and what the individual chooses to learn is important and whether that individual is prepared to share what he or she has gained freely .

Yours in the spirit of Budo

Mike

I've always been sorely tempted to go into the toy section of a Wal-Mart, unpackage the lightsabers, & start handing them to kids after telling them that the people wearing nametags are Sith lords in disguise. it's not stealing if the toys don't leave the store.

Yoda's Den:: Powers and principalities
Gautama Buddha, May 9, 2009.

The descent into duality
How, my beloved, did all of this descent into duality begin? It began, as Maitreya explains, when a sphere had come to the point of ascension, where it could ascend and become a part of the spiritual realm. Where it had reached the critical intensity of light that made it possible to accelerate the entire sphere into the higher vibrations of the spiritual realm—the vibrations of unconditionality, of love. And yet, what was the condition for that acceleration to take place? Well, you see, my beloved, you had a great number of beings who had applied themselves in a very concentrated effort in order to raise their sphere to that level. They had made great efforts. They had truly worked selflessly, so to speak, on raising all beings in their sphere to that point.

But you see, even in so doing, some of them had retained a remnant of the separate self, thinking that by working so hard to raise up their sphere, they would receive what they perceived as some ultimate reward by God for their efforts. And so, it was a great shock to them when all of the beings who had been the forerunners for raising the sphere were called, and they were shown that the next logical step for them was not to enter the spiritual realm as some kind of superheroes – receiving position and recognition in that spiritual realm – but instead, their next logical step was to lay down their lives, their attainment, their self-awareness and give that momentum and self-awareness and attainment as the foundation for creating the next sphere that would start out as an unenlightened sphere—inhabited by beings with a limited sense of self-awareness. Thereby, the sophisticated beings in the ascending sphere would, so to speak, let their beings descend, and now they would become the ones who allowed the beings in the next sphere to do with their light according to their free will.

This was a logical step because in the sphere that was ascending, that sphere was created out of the beings of those in a higher sphere. And so, the beings who were now at the top of the ascending sphere were simply being asked to do for others what others had done for them. Many of these beings were ready to ascend – to shed the last remnants of the separate self – and gladly embraced this opportunity. Which is why the next sphere was created—leading to your own. You would not be here unless someone had volunteered to lay down their lives to give you the opportunity to have a sphere in which you could grow in self-awareness. Thus, it is only logical that as you come to having made maximum use of this opportunity, you are asked to extend that opportunity to others, my beloved.

Yet, there were a small number, among the beings that had the opportunity to ascend, who did not want to give up that last remnant of the separate self. So they rebelled against God’s plan. And they wanted to keep owning what they saw as a superior position in their sphere, which they believed they had earned, and therefore [they] were entitled to keep experiencing that superiority for a time longer. And so, they demanded to be exempt from this—to set themselves apart as their sphere ascended. And in so doing, of course, they automatically fell into the next sphere that was created. For they could not maintain an existence in the ascended sphere, and thus could only go into the sphere that was not yet ascended and therefore had room for the separate self to continue to exist.

And yet, these beings were not stripped of their attainment. And so, they did, indeed, come into the next sphere with a far greater attainment and awareness than the beings who were just starting out in that sphere. And so, naturally, they set themselves up as leaders—as precisely what Jesus called the blind leaders of the blind followers. Some of their followers actually having followed them from the ascended sphere where they had leadership positions. And those of their followers who were not willing to let go of their obedience to their leaders, they had to fall as well.
mystery school

Welcome to the temple. Take a look around if you have not already. If you are looking to start training you need to start a journal here ( http://templeofthejediforce.org/modul ... bb/viewforum.php?forum=65 ). Introduce yourself a little more thoroughly and then begin posting your thoughts on the doctrine.

"After that start on the Jedi Code, Creed, 3 Tenants, the Vows, and 16 Teachings, the object is to write your view of each item in those areas and how you can use and incorporate them in to your daily life.

You can find these things in the FAQ section, the tab at the top of the main page that says "start here", I would also like to point you to the study downloads section and the Xoopstube section."
Master Scythe

Hope you enjoy your stay here and ask around to anyone if you need help.

May the Force be with you.

Zon Rii Zyx

Jedi Temple Philosophy:: Equality and the Economy: Jedi Perspectives
What would a Jedi's Perspective be on Equality and the Economy?
If this question was asked of the average person, the first thing they might do is gather as much data;either feed it to a computer or gather the smartest minds they could find, and form an answer.

A jedi when dealing with a question of such magnitude might first sit quietly in meditation, clearring the mind, and connecting to the force. After spending some time in this connection, the Jedi might ask the force what the best way to approch this question might be,then remain in the stillness.Whether the answer comes or not the Jedi has taken the most important first step.

After this then maybe the right thing to do might exist and maybe it will not.As a Jedi maybe our mission can now start.
What ever form that might take.

I personnally do not have an answer to your question, but I think that maybe it can be found in force.

MTFBWY

amysticsway

Jedi Temple Philosophy:: consider this
Greetings each

I like these sort of posts. We all have an opinion on past, present and future .

I tend to keep the past as a reference book. Childhood events and lessons can be passed on to ones own offsping and the progress thro' ones life. This about Gathering information and knowledge.Keeping all this at hand has helped me better myself as a human being and enables me to share those feeling which other people . Especially here .

IE from one of the Joseph Campbell lessons I had a look at The Myth I think . Talks of living NOW in this instant. The future we can sort of plan. Ie I plan to go to work after finishing this text...But will I ? lol I have no idea it has not happened..YET :).

I also believe sometimes you need to step back a wee bit to get a better view of what lies ahead.

Take sport for instance. A group of players may come up with a fantastic set of moves which get's them a score. With modern techniques the coach is able to play back those moves and record them.possibly try it again at some future game

All in all it has to be that fine balance. The harmony of the force . I agree we should not dwell on past misfortune but not forget either . It is all a text book,a diary a novel,a biography of a life which is not yet completed .

Ki be with you all

Yours in the spirit of Budo

Mike
Under the basic outline I could find online, we have a chance of approximately $375 in foodstamps for my wife and I along with another $200 for the mother-in-law if we apply separately. However it's unlikely that it'll work out that way so we'll probably get $536 total with her signing up. We'll see what happens. Hopefully she can set pride aside in light of our need to eat food. She's the kind of person that hates having to rely on things like financial aid.

EDIT: More good news, my sister-in-law and her boyfriend will be moving elsewhere. He got a job moving furniture and will be staying with his brother while he gets on his feet. His brother already has a secure job, plenty of income from multiple sources, and a nice big place with lots of food so they'll be fine.

Force Studies:: Preparation
You hit the nail on the head Tempest. Every fighter has a plan for winning the fight until he gets hit. The winners put more focus on getting back up and doing their best then the losers who focus on the pain of getting hit and being down.

There is a state of mind which translates to mean 'certain victory'(hisshou) This state is going into a situation knowing you have already won. All fear and worries are gone. You simply do. This is the state one aims for during visualizations. It means if you want a job, you visualize yourself finding one until you have that state. Then you let go of all your preconceptions, fears and simply do it. You carry that state with you throughout the day.

They say it's easier to get something if you don't really want it. It's because you are more relaxed and confident because you don't over-care about what happens.

Dexter's Diner:: If Clones could think
I don't know nearly as much about the stories as Master Grayson obviously does, but I am a gamer and have played many Star Wars games. I think the best game for insight on the mindset of the clones is Republic Commando; in which you play as a clone leading a special forces squad. You see the loyalty to the leader, that being whoever is in charge, and the loyalty to each other. I can't remember if that game ends before or after Order 66, but at one point the clones do obey the Jedi and help them. I think at one point the player fights alongside Obi-Wan, although it may have been a different Jedi...

Regardless of the previously mentioned details, other bits you get to see include the fact that the clones relax, have a sense of humor, have varieties in personality, make their own observations, their own assessments and judgements, and if not for the way they were raised would have a mind entirely their own. As the leader your character seems to be somewhat the strong and quiet type. The computer tech is a genius and his personality reflects the educated type. The demolitions expert is a big joker, very amusing. The sniper is quiet, serious, but also cracks a joke on occasion when he has a good one. Thinking back on it the personalities portrayed really reflects that of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Now I'll have to find my copy and play again.

Dexter's Diner:: You are the last person on Earth
On the first day I would probably be terrified, honestly. I would spend quite a bit of time looking for other people, trying to find some sign of continuing civilization. After long enough to give up I might set up some kind of beacon, secure an area to call mine and claim a house with solar panels, and then make sure my new home is filled with all the necessities; food, clothing, blankets, running water, etc. Following that I would stock up on game systems, games, and other enjoyable entertainment things to try keeping myself occupied.

After the first month I probably would have expanded my territory, shifted from gaming to inventing and trying to find ways to make up for failing luxuries formerly maintained by other members of the community (water system, plumbing, etc) as needed. Hunting and fishing would also be taken up due to what food is salvageable likely being bad. At this point I would most likely have found a few animals, assuming they still exist, to call friends and enjoy the company of so I'm not entirely alone.

By the end of the first year if I were still sane it would most likely be entirely thanks to animals and meditation. Life would probably continue with gaming, tinkering, and physical fitness taking up every day. At least currency isn't a stress factor anymore.

My goals would most likely be simple. If there's no other people many of my moral beliefs become moot so all that's left is concern for myself and the animals I consider friends. First priority would be to take care of them. Second would be to keep myself entertain and occupied however possible to ensure sanity is not lost. Third would be to ensure the security of my territory; weather-proof, safe from wild animals, and hopefully maintaining electricity.

A normal day would probably go in this order: Wake up, feed animals, eat breakfast, play games, eat lunch, play with animals, eat dinner, feed animals, meditate, go through physical fitness routines according to what I feel like doing, maybe have a snack depending on food supplies, get some sleep. A hunting day would be the same, except I'd leave to hunt after feeding the animals and be back in time to eat dinner and feed the animals again. Since I'd be active most of that day hiking around I'd meditate and relax with games in place of a physical fitness routine. Lunch would likely be packed to take along.

As much as I love seafood I have never been a fan of fishing.

Buddhist Perspectives on Jediism:: The Noble Eightfold Path
While it's true Buddhists in the place of Jedi would not have fit as well and probably would have changed the entire direction of the movie, it's not true that Buddhists are all entirely pacifistic. The Buddhists of the Shaolin Temple had the goal of ending suffering for everyone, not just themselves. They would go out and help the community. Unfortunately, bandits were attacking innocent farmers and it was in the Buddhists' beliefs that he should attempt to put an end to the conflict. Many Buddhists died and so Shaolin Kung-Fu was created.

The goal of Shaolin Kung-Fu was to end the violence without harming the bandit, the farmer, or the self, if possible. Primary concern went to the farmer who was in trouble as it was the Buddhist's goal to help the victim. Secondary concern actually went to the Monk, not the bandit, because if the Buddhist who was defending the farmer lost the fight he also lost the goal of keeping the victim from being harmed.

Considering this, Buddhists and Jedi do have quite a bit in common. We too would stand up and defend the innocent even if it put ourselves at risk. It's what we do.

Force Studies:: Hipnotic victims
There is wisdom in all of your words, and I see your point. However, I must still needs disagree.
If we define hypnotic influence as any kind of influence, then hypnosis in itself has no point. Everything anyone does has some consequences and influences those around them, because all life is connected and people instinctively react to the world around them. However, that is influence itself, not hypnosis. I believe that the term "hypnosis" should stay reserved to the medicinal (and in some cases theatrical) application of inducing a trance-like state to make the patient (or random volunteer in case of a show) more suggestive.
I'd hardly describe TV as hypnotic. Think of it as a book for instance: you accept the violence because you know it isn't real. While it is true that, if you watch a lot of violent movies or read a lot of violent books, you might get more accustomed to it and thereby perhaps more accepting of them. But in that case, it begs the question why would such a person watch/read such material? Obviously there was something they liked about it, otherwise they'd do other things with their time. So the ones that do enjoy violence in the media are no more influenced by it than what they already were.
And from my experience, not many people actually watch commercials: they use the pause to go get a drink, go to the toilet, or whatever they can do in those 5 minutes that they'd miss part of the movie otherwise ;)

But as I said before: I have seen proof that even masters of hypnosis cannot force you to do something you don't want to. It is not a Jedi Mind Trick, it is more like helping someone else achieve a meditative trance. You might do things you would usually ask "why should I?" without question, but never so far as to something you would outright reject, no matter how intelligent or strong-willed (or lacking thereof) you are.

*bows*

Thank you Duro *Bows* my Master is very proud of me and that makes me feel honored that I was able to succeed in using his teachings to help others and portray in myself. I love to get good discussions going and see other peoples views and opinions because it gives my new perspectives to look at. I plan to not only continue and participate but offer my assistance and guidance to anyone that needs it. Since joining the Temple I have found more spiritual enlightenment inside of me than I have in years. And it makes me feel full filled. And anytime I get recognition from my peers and superiors it makes me feel honored and accomplished.

Welcome Kenassa, to answer that it is a very personal and deep journey although as Jedi we share this journey @ the end of the day any breakthroughs are yours and yours alone! I really haven't had a chance to explore the Temple the way I'd like because of personal issues. Just know that you have the help of every Jedi within the Temple "walls" You'll get to know us and the lessons within and without I think you'll do just fine. Once again welcome explore and May the force be with you...

I am working on the next post for this, but things have been a bit hectic. I'm in a new place now though, so things should get back on track for me soon. I apologize for the delays...

I plan to practice this technique tonight when I go home I think it's just what I need to free myself of the constant worries I've had of late. Bills, financial stability, work, the weekend and many other things my mind is racing to figure out.

Jedi Temple Philosophy:: What drives you?
You know i have never really pondered that question before it is a good one...

What drives me is...
the teachings put me in a spot to better understand my self and my current position in the scheme of things and in doing this also a better understanding of the position of others around me... it is in first hear this grand orchestra that we begin to, want to, hum with the tune... now I can embellish my sounds and still maintain continuity with the Grand tune.
